Traffic jams

Is there any particular reason for the abnormal traffic jams in Abu Hamour, Medical Commission Roundabout etc in the morning? I agree that traffic jams were always there in the morning, but I feel that last 2 days the situation is out of control.

Has anybody else felt the same, or is it just me?

I think I would start using that but never tried it before. Is it an easy route? Are there road signs all the way?

It took me about 1.5 hours to reach Abu Hamour from Wukair to drop my kids,(used to take about 45 minutes max) they are arriving late at school for the third consecutive day, and another hour to reach my office in C Ring road..

Opening the Birla school near the church complex does not seem a good idea..The road from the church complex to Waqoud roundabout is impossibly clogged, because of traffic coming from Wukair, from Barwa and also parents going back to Doha after dropping their kids at Birla school..

Kareena, The Route 55 is now been upgraded to two lanes each way, So from Abu Humaor it might be a better options to go down Salwa Road and then up the Route 55 (which is the Road from Salwa Road to Mesaieed)

I should leave home even earlier than 6.20 then perhaps I would reach by 7.15 at least.. I wish I had not moved from Wakrah to Abu Hamour.. That was a dumb thing to do. I wish I were still staying at my lovely place at Ezdan

I think Arabic Schools have re-started after their break so it may be a contributing factor?

A few years back, the cops used to enforce the rule that no heavy vehicles are allowed during 6 to 8 am or something like that. Now every 4th vehicle in this route is a heavy vehicle, and I think they clog up the roads. Plus the fact that 10000 new vehicles are sold every month, and the road infrastructure does not improve at the same pace.

I left home at 6.20 this morning like I do on most mornings and yesterday I was sick so don't know if it was this bad. Anyway, it took me almost two hours from my place at Abu Hamour to my office at Mesaieed.. Usually it takes around 45 to 50 minutes in traffic during the morning rush hour and around 35 minutes on my way back home in the afternoon.. This morning it was terrible at the Abu hamour roundabout and it took me an hour and half just to reach the Catholic church complex and from there it was pretty smooth till Wukair and then to Mesaieed..
