houses in the desert is built to make the hse cool in the summer hence it gets freezing in winter, why no heating? coz winter is not very long here that is why.so the portable heater would suffice...:P

life's too short so make the most of it, you only live but once.......

I do that whenever I have congestion or not feeling well. I just rub Vicks on the soles of my feet, put on socks and go to sleep. The next day I feel relieved and the congestion is gone.

Also instead of putting Vicks in your nose, rub some behind your ears (the part were our Moms say we should always keep clean). It will also give relief especially to runny nose.

good idea..we haven't seen you in a while...understand about not going if you have children with you..children, cold and rain do not mix well.

About the vicks..I never use it for extended periods of time..only when ill. BUT.,..try this...(I've read, and tested it, it works)..that when you are sick with congestion or coughing...rub menthol rub on the SOLES of your feet, cover with socks and go to bed at night...seems it clears it right up!

Had a friend do that and they said they felt so much better the next day! Was wondering how that worked, but then thought about it..a lot of toxins are absorbed and exceted through the soles of the feet (and hands)..the skin is thinner there, only having the lucidium layer without the epidermis on top (hence the more luminous appearance and feel) so it would absorb faster and deeper into the skin...Anyway..that's the more biological explanation...all I know is it works and your feet are SOO soft too...lol

How are you? Am still enjoying looking at our pictures in Zubara. Am now back in Doha.

Anyway, I also had that same habit with Vicks and a lot more rubbing stuff before I got here to Doha because of my tension headache. I even bought a lot of the same stuff with me. But I have since kicked that habit because when I got here my tension headache has gone. I guess work pressure here is not as much when I was working back home. So my Vicks bottle is still practically unused.

Karin, in addition, try not to pick your nose too much. :)

ever since I was a little child and got sick..and its never harmed me or anyone else in my family..my mom and her mom also used to (and still do!) put it on their lips at night to keep them from chapping.

yes, you also need to hydrate but that won't stop a nosebleed..its because the nasal tissues are so dried out from breathing dry air, that they rupture..You CAN try using saline nasal spray..that will help a bit..but for my choice, I'll stick with the Vicks..

it's a no-no. During dry weather try to drink lots of fluids. I know you will start to run to the toilet every now and then (specially at your age... hehehehe) but its the natural remedy for nosebleed due to dry air. And take in vitamin C.

Don't drink alcohol because alcohol will only dehydrate you further.

but that's cause I end up coughing due to the sand/dust in the air..Drove with the windows down all day today...and yeah..sneezing but sure did enjoy it!!

Karin...that's very typical of dry air..I get nose bleeds when I visit my mom in the winter and she lives up around Dallas, where its very dry. One full day and voila...its stuffing tissues up my nose to stop the bleeding..try putting some Vicks vapor rub up inside your nostrils, not a lot, just enough to coat the nasal membranes...I know, sounds yucky but works..also sleep with a vaporizer on at night..will help.

it all depends on your system!

how come I was born, and later was living in two of the coldest countries in the world and I HATE cold! I just cannot stand it!! My body, my mind, my heart and soul - all get frozen and cannot function properly in cold. All I want is just to sleep (may be I am squirrel and need hibernating for the winter?) .... and my buddy is from very very warm country , and HE HATES HEAT and sun...

Returning every year to the UK whn I was living in Germany I did find their sense of dress rather odd in winter - going out without coats and wearing sandals etc. in freezing cold weather I was always happy to have had a good coat and sturdy shoes. lol

I have not use the A/C since November and I have had the feather cover on over a month now I don't like to feel cold in the night. lol
