to all my QL's from Canad and other colded-weather countries
after u moved to here did u adapt with the weather here and feel the coldness like i feel now or this is a joke for u??
houses in the desert is built to make the hse cool in the summer hence it gets freezing in winter, why no heating? coz winter is not very long here that is why.so the portable heater would suffice...:P
life's too short so make the most of it, you only live but once.......
I do that whenever I have congestion or not feeling well. I just rub Vicks on the soles of my feet, put on socks and go to sleep. The next day I feel relieved and the congestion is gone.
Also instead of putting Vicks in your nose, rub some behind your ears (the part were our Moms say we should always keep clean). It will also give relief especially to runny nose.
good idea..we haven't seen you in a while...understand about not going if you have children with you..children, cold and rain do not mix well.
About the vicks..I never use it for extended periods of time..only when ill. BUT.,..try this...(I've read, and tested it, it works)..that when you are sick with congestion or coughing...rub menthol rub on the SOLES of your feet, cover with socks and go to bed at night...seems it clears it right up!
Had a friend do that and they said they felt so much better the next day! Was wondering how that worked, but then thought about it..a lot of toxins are absorbed and exceted through the soles of the feet (and hands)..the skin is thinner there, only having the lucidium layer without the epidermis on top (hence the more luminous appearance and feel) so it would absorb faster and deeper into the skin...Anyway..that's the more biological explanation...all I know is it works and your feet are SOO soft too...lol
BTW, if the weather does not change (dust and cold). My family and I will not go with you to Zakreet but we will try to go to the meeting place just to meet up with you guys.
How are you? Am still enjoying looking at our pictures in Zubara. Am now back in Doha.
Anyway, I also had that same habit with Vicks and a lot more rubbing stuff before I got here to Doha because of my tension headache. I even bought a lot of the same stuff with me. But I have since kicked that habit because when I got here my tension headache has gone. I guess work pressure here is not as much when I was working back home. So my Vicks bottle is still practically unused.
Karin, in addition, try not to pick your nose too much. :)
ever since I was a little child and got sick..and its never harmed me or anyone else in my family..my mom and her mom also used to (and still do!) put it on their lips at night to keep them from chapping.
yes, you also need to hydrate but that won't stop a nosebleed..its because the nasal tissues are so dried out from breathing dry air, that they rupture..You CAN try using saline nasal spray..that will help a bit..but for my choice, I'll stick with the Vicks..
it's a no-no. During dry weather try to drink lots of fluids. I know you will start to run to the toilet every now and then (specially at your age... hehehehe) but its the natural remedy for nosebleed due to dry air. And take in vitamin C.
Don't drink alcohol because alcohol will only dehydrate you further.
and lived a very healthy life until she passed away at 92. I've used vicks ever since I was a child..and am still healthy..ok so I get those weird twitches constantly and voices talk in my head, but hey...
I think its more like those warnings you see for roller coasters...if you are pregnant, back trouble, hemmroids, nose bleeds, hang nail...don't get on this ride...to cover their tail ends in court just in case something ever DID happen..
but that's cause I end up coughing due to the sand/dust in the air..Drove with the windows down all day today...and yeah..sneezing but sure did enjoy it!!
Karin...that's very typical of dry air..I get nose bleeds when I visit my mom in the winter and she lives up around Dallas, where its very dry. One full day and voila...its stuffing tissues up my nose to stop the bleeding..try putting some Vicks vapor rub up inside your nostrils, not a lot, just enough to coat the nasal membranes...I know, sounds yucky but works..also sleep with a vaporizer on at night..will help.
LAST NIGHT IT WAS 39 DEGREES WITH A WIND CHILL FACTOR OF 20 DEGREES. tHAT IS COLD FOR Doha!
I don't MIND cool temperatures except when the wind blows out in full force then the tip of my ears get red and cold!! lets not forget my hands...
Wait for the rains to get here. Then is going to get REALLL COLD! remember last year? I do, I got soak and wet and I was miserable all night shivering.....
my a/c is always on, but sometimes i have to leave open also the fridge door - so hot i feel during the night... or this is due to the JW (RL/BL) or J&B reading...?!
this cold weather brings me stomach ache...everyday have to deal with it..im beginning to get used to it...the thing is with the coldness here somehow it lingers inside your body...

how come I was born, and later was living in two of the coldest countries in the world and I HATE cold! I just cannot stand it!! My body, my mind, my heart and soul - all get frozen and cannot function properly in cold. All I want is just to sleep (may be I am squirrel and need hibernating for the winter?) .... and my buddy is from very very warm country , and HE HATES HEAT and sun...
its cold!!!! but whats worse , it is unpredictable. two days it will freeze and u will sleep with the heater on and then the rest of the week will be as hot as a mild summer day. i am still double minded about putting my summer clothing away!
When I lived in Germany I used to have the bedroom window open all year round even all through the Winter - my ex husband always complained that he thought he was sleeping in the fridge lol.
I didn't have the a/c on last night, but that was the first night with it not going on full blast, and I found it too warm, so I think I will have it on again tonight. :D

Returning every year to the UK whn I was living in Germany I did find their sense of dress rather odd in winter - going out without coats and wearing sandals etc. in freezing cold weather I was always happy to have had a good coat and sturdy shoes. lol
I have not use the A/C since November and I have had the feather cover on over a month now I don't like to feel cold in the night. lol
almost 2 years ash, how about you? and is away my hubby still using ac when his sleep now adays. so what i do i sleep in next room. no way i sleep in the freezer.bbrrrrrrrrrr
Everybody is right and Everybody is wrong, its depend where you stand
I'm Canadian and I'm finding it a bit chilly. Probably cause I don't have anything long sleeved and I'm still wearing sandals. But I must confess I do still sleep and drive with the A/C on. :)
