Yes, PM for PM...

Leaving aside the medical benefits, life in general is far too hectic nowadays and the PC brigade have taken over in our government :O(

While the highest I can only do before was a 92 on one subject.

They never give a 70 or an 80 to a child these days. Lucky new-generation kids.

Oh Cmon!

"Old days were much better for overall quality of life, freedom from stress and tension, competition,no pollution and more time to spend."???

I think our vision is polluted because we were children with no responsability playing ball all the time, but if you ask your parents or grandparents:

- one of my grandfather had two works in order to feed the family. Working from dawn to sunset all days, and again at home just save some pennies in order to buy shoes for the elder childer (the younger took the ones of the elder when grew) - this is not stress life? (BTW: 8 children - they were 11 but 3 died when babies).

- my other grandfather was sailor and was at sea 11 months of the year just to get enough money to feed the children.

- freedom for stress and competition???? I recomend you one book: "Grapes of Wraith", not my country, but it can be anywhere - you will see how happy people was...

- no pollution??? does anybody remember the time when kitchens or heaters were carbon fueled? Still in Madrid there is a lot of carbon heaters and I can tell you that that fog is not nice.

- time to spend? no absolutely no. Right now people has more time to spend than before.

I think here everybody is thinking in his childhood when they answer the question.

We can reword the phrase:

Was your childhood happier than your actual days?

instead of:

Were old days better that nowadays?

I with khalid here for once. Let's go back 10000 years. OK life expectancy was not great but free from organized religion and religious dictatorships. Just our simple superstitions to get us through the day....(no one got persecuted for what they wore as no one cared)

I love all days.

over all, the sanitary conditions...

dying at 50 yo...

life was great without AC...

what about the life of the women without sanitary towels...?

or without washing machine...? my mother loved to clean the clothes pushing and hitting the wet clothes against the stone in the river... she told me always...

and what about the economy... when my grandmother only eat fruit in Christmas...

Ah! Really... can we rewind? lets go backwards!

I read a statistic that the average length of a marriage 150 years ago was 10 years. Back then, it wasn't divorce, it was death that did us part! I think that marriages are actually longer now!

Well I don't see to many of them out there, but yes, if there are some, they should be planted.

I think also the natural growing desert trees will be good.

By Gypsy• 9 Aug 2009 13:27

Here??? First off planting tree's here isn't good for the environment. While we might enjoy them, the fact is that they waste A LOT of water. People here should plant naturally growing desert plants, not trees.

which says if you built .... then you have to plant this..... number of trees.

LOL. And all those things are the result of what? THE PAST!!!! Global warming started during the Industrial revolution, greenhouse gases as well are a result of a time when we didn't know the effects. Stephen's a douche but there have always been douchy leaders. I'd rather live under Harper then say, Adolf Hitler.

The past was only better because we were more ignorant of the effects we had on ourselves and others.

why don't we plant trees infront or in our houses? I mean those who can.

My neighbours are all really nice and always have been. We get together to help feed the stray cats in the area.

I personally don't find much wrong with today's world. Yes there's more pollution, but at least now we've recognized that we need to stop polluting, unlike before when we just did as we pleased.

Why are neighbours not like before?

-Maybe because they have money.

-Maybe they do not need to know each other.

well i feel that yesterdays life was a million times much better than now in so many aspects . The most aspect i really miss is having neighbours. That day i smiled at my new neighbour and she just looked at me in a grumpy way( indicating to me that dont try to even get to know me ) hehehehehe . those days were so nice, neighbours knew each other , were there for one another and would be there when you need them

why don't you make a post about "how can we make Qatari or Arab life better in the future"? instead of wanting to go back to the past,,,which, I understand was no great shakes.

C'mon,,,please post and see what you get.
