I feel I have to vent my frustration about this!!!
Does anyone else feel that those people blokes selling crappy soap are a pain in the neck??? They are getting worse at hassling ladies as you walk in the bloody door!!
I've even taken to going in the other entrance just to avoid them.......Yuuccckkkk!!!

nomerci- It's not available where I am now(India).

Try their camomille soap, it is really nice!

By chocoholic• 9 Jun 2011 22:47

Edifis, to avoid this problem you can wrap the bar of soap in a piece of your pantyhose :)

I like the Khan Saboun. I only used the mint soap...and it feels very cool on the body. Good for the summer months. But one thing annoys me is that the small square bars have some black-green things in them like leaves and they make my loofah look dirty.

I agree they are quite annoying. there are some guys in hyatt plaza who also sell soap and perfume and they are so annoying.and after you tell them no sometimes they still insist.

Well brit, the only difference is that at home they are women, not men...if they are men, they are gay.

But seriously, in this particular case I have dealt with only one guy , and he has always been very respectful to me.The others don't approach me because they know that I am the GM's customer. So maybe that is why...

By britexpat• 9 Jun 2011 22:30
britexpat

Surely there's a clear difference in the way they approach and deal with you.. Perhaps , as you say, you've been here too long to differentiate :o)

By nomerci• 9 Jun 2011 22:28
nomerci

Well, here is the thing. In my home country, if you go to buy good creams etc, you WILL want to test them. So here they let you test the oil...sure, they are guys, we are women, we are in the ME...but seriously, would you think twice about it if this happens at home?

By chocoholic• 9 Jun 2011 22:23

I bought plenty of their soaps over the years, and spoke to them many times.

To me, they are still both pushy and creepy. Can't wait to get a chance to rub their overpriced oils into my hand and arm, which I don't let them do.

I just tell them right off the bat what soap I want and "no thanks" to the other stuff.

If I speak to them in Arabic, they behave right away lol

Having met these men and women and taken time out to talk to them - they are (allegedly) a family run business who wants to spread the word of what they produce from their farm.

Are they creepy?

They are keen and they do approach a lot of people not only in Villagio but also in Landmark.

If I was keen to make money and they are - I would approach anybody. They are a bit like the Avon and Tupperware Ladies.

They are trying to make a living.

Give them a break - I love these kind of people - they are working hard, they are keen and love their product.

I have bought some of their stuff and it is not that good but I do admire their hard work and since then, when they have approached me (again) a simple; no thank you, not today does the trick.

Don’t be angry be sympathetic.

By nomerci• 9 Jun 2011 22:10
nomerci

I don't know, they have never been creepy with me....ah well, maybe I've been too long in the ME to notice anymore...lol

I don't know if it is the same guys but I have seen some of those vendors behave very inappropriately. For example grabbing a lady's hair (she was a petite fillipina and couldn't really do a lot) and some lady there rubbing perfumes onto a man's hand/arm. The comments are meant to be 'sexy' i think but they are more sleazy. I just stay far away.

Angelina is 100% right.

I am not disabled or mentally ill and I don't look like one.

Annoying blokes are all over the place offering help.

I DONT NEED HELP! EVERYTHING IS ON DISPLAY. WHEN I NEED - I ASK!!!

MY WIFE CANNOT ENTER A LOT OF SHOPS, DUE TO THOSE BLOKES CHASING HER. WHEN SHE IS WITH ME, THEY BACK OFF A LITTLE.

The truth is, MAN should work and do something useful, instead of selling ladies underware or crappy soap.

So its all about the attitude in the shops of some unpleasant looking/talking people.

"annoying people blokes" that don't seem proper.Anyways, human beings being given the power of "communication" tend to use their skills in "speech" to convey their feelings.
