If you want Pakistani's reply so I am one of them and been in the UK and have wonderfull memories of being part of community and would certainly love to live there again. I never hated and can't find a genuine reason to hate a country Although I have freedom to dislike any country's policies including UK or Pakistan.

As I said before I never rely on these polls based opinions. It is very hard for me to accept Pakistani's hate UK and many would love to live there.

Sorry Exile did not pick that excalamation mark! I thought since I have been out of the UK for more than 4 years now! may be so many Pakis have entered the UK to be counted as half of the population :) I had to double check the British population to check the above statement..lol

And furthermore, of course I realize this is not written in stone, non the less, interesting to talk about.

brit, no, it is not sh i t stirring on my behalf. I posted this because I know there are Pakistanis on QL, who may be able to answer my question. I really did not understand why , if many Pakistanis have immigrated to and are living in the UK, some of the ones at home, maybe relatives of thos living in the UK, would dislike the UK.

I would ask the same if there was a poll on Arabs liking or disliking the US.

You see, I believe in asking people directly instead of reading newspapers or watching tv.

brit, if the sample is carefully designed and representative, a number of 1.500 individuals is sufficient to make statistically valuable statements about 100 million people.

Its not the UK (as a country) or UK Citizens...but the UK Foreign Policies (always following the US) is the reason for the hate. Nobody hates UK...ummm or maybe few.

Visas are not being issued currently to Pakistani Students, and there is a Debate going on in Pakistani Media...

May be this might be the reason, other then that Lots of Pakistanis live their, Study, or are holding valid Multiple Visas...

Cabbage just gets to show how these other nationalities know so much about the UK to suggest that half of the population of these country is there. The overall population of UK is around 62 million.

I just googled to find out that the population of the country mentioned by the above poster is around 170 million. It clearly show that the poster is not good at maths to suggest that 85 million Pakis are in the UK?

How does living in a particular country makes one have positive view about that country?? So many on QL live in Qatar... (Do I need to say any further).

Pakistan has population of approx 170 million.

of course they do; I lived in a place that was full of hatred and war - Ireland not the UK.

I was dragged from what I knew and introduced to a different place. It was hard for me to fit in.

For me it was better in some ways but I was ‘not accepted’ and racially abused and found it so hard at school, college and University.

All of that was small fry to being made homeless and seeing family blown up.

We all adapt in our own ways.

I am really serious about this one. They want to get away from all the bombings and destruction back home and someone has told them the Queen has those big palaces where no one gets turned away

Pakistani hate everyone including themselves!

Well besides the ones who are already there the rest must be on their way and probably travelling on those big boats to the UK right now. They say they just love the British and the Queen

I would think that part of the problem is perhaps lack of 'knowing'. Before I came to live here, I was 'aware' of the Middle East and not that 'bothered' by it to be honest.

When I told my brothers I was coming here, well to be honest it was like I told them I was going to Mars.

People hear things about an area or a country and they are scared.

Yet here I am in Qatar and loving it - some Pakistanis are 'scared' at the thought of the UK, yet some go there and are happy.

cabbage, I am sure this is so. otherwise all those immigrants would not be there. I have lived in the UK...had a grand time. Felt very welcome, very friendly people all over.

BUT, this poll was about how well received the UK is aborad. apparently Mexico and Pakistan, two of the countries that were polled, had negative biews about the UK

Pakistan's view surprised me, as there are so many people of Pakistani origin in the UK.

I am wondering why Pakistanis who live in Pakistan have a negative view of the UK...many of then must have relatives there...so I can't quite understand.

Hence my question.

The UK does have many immigrants and all are welcome; says me the Irish person that was not accepted but sort of accepted lol

The UK for all its faults and there are many - is very open to anybody living there.

If you were to ask the average Brit, they would say they are glad and happy we have this multicultural country.

It frames them and most immigrants contribute to the society and are no bother. Of course there are a few bad eggs but hey that is life.

When you accept people you accept them warts and all.
