There is no news today

By timebandit •
I have just gone cover to cover looking for a Qatar story to cut and paste from the Gulf Times today. But there are no stories that I believe would interest anyone, certainly nothing that qualifies as news.
So I guess no news is good news.
As GT have failed to report any news, do you have any news items instead?
I am not a good reader anyways....
If they can't give them decent wages , then at least give them Kingsmill ..
Usual story about badly treated manual workers - sadly nothing changes in Qatar

so much was there in GT and our dear friend TB was busy looking the ads column only.....:(
Wages of unskilled workers ‘inadequate’ A study published by Qatar’s National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) on “The conditions of the unskilled labourers in the construction sector” has revealed that their wages and living conditions are far from being fair and adequate. NHRC seeks sponsorship rule changesDOHA: Qatar’s National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) has called on the authorities to amend the sponsorship rules saying they impede the implementation of certain key provisions of the labor law. It has also cited repatriation of foreign workers by their employers without any justification and summary termination of job contracts of some as being against the spirit of the labor law.The study-cum-survey of the rights body reveals that a vast majority (48.7 percent) of those interviewed said that workers run away due to low salaries. While another 47.7 percent of the surveyed said that joblessness was the main cause of their escape from their sponsors.

Ok, ok, ok.... I will go and read the damn thing again, and I unreservedly withdraw my statement that there was no news in the GT today.
I was just reading the GT and there was a story about four former soldiers from an elite army unit being sentenced to more than 6,000 years in prison ...
I only read the GT Khanan.
and what about this one??

hot topic and a very sensitive one.
Blimey.... am I getting my butt kicked today or what? I shall do a better job of reading the GT in future.
i know tat TB and i feel so sorry for tat...:(Why not lets put your moaning thing in tomorrows headline in GT ? :)in tat way, u might get ur bread and some new news too ? :)
If you felt that the downgrading of the credit rating of US from AAA to AA+ is not an important news and has no impact to the global financial markets then you are terribly mistaken my friend. Even during the global economic crisis in 2008, they maintained their AAA rating when there was major economic downturn. Now it is more serious and all the studies converge to the possibility of another major economic downturn starting from US to the entire world. So chances are there may be increase in interest rates for existing loans, less availability of loans, more losss of jobs especially in these parts of the world, less investments etc. Even if people have money they will not invest and so this leads to lack of economic activity.
The only thing to moan about Kingsmill bread, is that I can't get it at the moment :(
if no news today, then why not lets start moaning about "Kingsmill Bread" ? :)
Anyone else do a better job of reading GT than me?
