It is looking more and more likely that Qatar may not hold the WC 2022. FIFA and UEFA have today said that the award was a mistake. I hope this is true for the sake of the Qatari's and the football loving world.

A quote from FIFA 'He said: "I have a lot of sympathy with the Qataris. They bid for it and they got it. I think the Fifa executive probably made a mistake at that time - we have to live with that.

"The question now is, how do we solve this problem?"

I can answer that ----- move it!

.. So its like saying all those smart and highly experienced guys sitting at the head of FIFA did not know what they were doing or what they were getting into until now. Its like they shooting themselves in the face

Qatar deserve it and has proven many times that is up to it. I wonder how doing it in cold conditions is fine and hot is not specially that stage cooling is there.

What you say doesn't make sense, and who do you think you are to say Qatar doesn't deserve it and add a line saying its hot"

"deserving football loving nation" please emphasize on this. So your saying Qatar isn't a deserving football nation?

But at the same time this country gives you a better salary then where you originally came from. like your avatar says i think you are defintley lost in space.

fifa should have studied the facts first before awarding the world cup, its not Qatar's fault, its fifas fault, Qatar won it so they deserves it plain and simple.

fifa knew before hand that the summers are hot here, what? they thought it snows in qatar in the summer.

English FA is the main opponent of switching the world cup to winter. And winter it will be when the the world cup will take place in Qatar.

If that's the case, Then all countries that have extreme weather conditions during summer should not dream of holding a world cup event?

LIS has one sided and biased approach, he is unable to understand the positive impact of WC in the Arab world.

It is the "World Cup" that belongs to all the world countries evenly with their inherent weathers and geographical locations.

Qatar has been awarded the WC through a long process and transparent procedure (which have been reviewed and audited by several bodies with clean chits), and it has a 99% ability to organize it successfully.

Lot of options are being evaluated to reduce the temperature of 2022 in the entire Qatar, one of which may be by towing in icebergs from the poles and placing them around the peninsula along with icy streams trans versing through the country.

LIS no i haven't 'ducked' anything.Maybe there was corruption involved maybe there wasn't i am not really sure.

As far as the 'paid' fans are concerned. That will not suddenly change FIFA's decision on whether they awarded the World Cup to Qatar wrongly.Let us leave it to FIFA to decide whether Qatar will definately host the World Cup in 2022.

Its not the 'athletes' that are in danger, its the fans. I see you have decided to duck the corruption and 'paid' fans on the corniche topics though.

I understand it is quite a challenge literally for the officials concerned to host the World Cup in the summer here in Qatar. But he latest i heard is that FIFA,UEFA and officials from all the major confederations will analyse whether playing in the summer heat here will have bad health effects on the athletes and then they will come to a solution.

The bid has been flawed from the start with whispers of corruption and buying votes. Qatar bid for a summer world cup but now the world are saying that they can't hold it in such extreme temperatures, so NO they don't deserve it or or even need/want it. I think it will be better for all involved if they just award it to a deserving football loving nation.. and dont even get me started on the celebrations on the corniche when they won the bid, alot of people payed to stand waving flags for a bid they knew nothing about!

LostInSpace don't you think Qatar might actually deserve just like any other country that goes through the bidding process,to host the World Cup?.The officials are working on elaborate plans in order to make this possible.

Move it to a country that deserves it, and that bid on a summer world cup! The leagues are quite clear on the fact that they will not accommodate a winter world cup, and so they should!

Hopefully everyone see's sense and awards the world cup to a country that can actually stage it at the right time of year!

Do you mean move the World Cup to the winter months and that means rescheduling the league date fixtures globally.
