My question is simple as I like to know the diversity of the local people. Or they all Moslem?

My country is moslem country and we have minority of Christian, Catholic, Budha, Hindus and Chinese Religion.

There are no exact figures of how many shi’it Qataris, I’d say 15% more or less. Like Sunnis the shi’a Qataris are Arabs & Persians. As for Christian Qataris, there are few families (originally from Palestine) .

Yes you are so right... they are De Facto Qataris....

That's true - they ask for the passport back if you are naughty or they no longer require your services...

There was the athlete in Bahrain who ran in Israel and he was asked to relinqish his passport.

You are wrong here my friend.

They are given nationalty for a certain period.

interesting article about christianity in middle east

Your question about Qatari Christian or Christian Qatari

I think the standard form is Nationality + Religion.

If I am not sure I think about what is written in a reputable newspaper and the form seems to be: British Muslim - Indian Muslim but you may find examples to contradict this. For example Iranian Christian sounds better to me than Christian Iranian.

Super Expat is right

Qataris who are Christian:

Sebastian Soria

Fabio Cesar

Marconi Costa and another one.

Any others who converted would have to keep it 'hush hush'

I went to a church in Shiraz and spent the afternoon listening to stories about Iranian Christians...very interesting as they do get the death penalty for apostacy.

Anyway how many Qataris are Shi'ite and how many Sunni?

To all of you. Thanks for the comments and infos. Now I can make simple conclusion that maybe there is Christian Qatari, only they are so private and certainly not to declare to the world.

Thanks again to all and wishing nice day!!!

I asked a friend that question a while ago, and he said that there's no such thing as Christian Qataris. Their passport would be taken away or something.

On a second note, Lebanese Christians are definitely not a minority. In 1932, Christians made 55% of the population. But since then, more Christians than Muslims left Lebanon and so today the Christians are 40% of the population, which is still not minor.

I've heard of a Qatari family who called in a Pastor for healing their mentally retarded child...After the child was completely healed..they were askd to convert, for which they agreed...But they still aren't showing out that they blve in Christianity...because they would be put to death if the Govt knows about it...I blve thats the case in all the Islamic countries...

I know there are few but they are difficult to distinguish since they wear the same dress and have the same names as muslims.

There may be some Christians in Qatar but I don't know for sure.

I knew a Christian Kuwaiti when we lived there in the late 70's early 80's and apparently he wasn't the only one.

well if you be a good player in any game the sports authority will give you Qatari passport just to present Qatar as a sports man.

My post refered to Gulf-Times article today about "Pope urges religious freedom in Arab states" and make me wonder is there local Christian and because of the issue matter force to leave the family and country. I thought somebody might knows somebody with similiar story as I very much like to know and learn the culture here. But anyway, I will keep waiting till somebody convinced me with either answer YES or NO
