theoretically, when will villaggio be open?
By bhertbautista590 •
first and foremost my deepest sympathy and condolences to the the family who got affected by this recent tragedy.
is it still possible for villaggio to open after this incident?
Does anybody know who is held responsible for the murder of 19 people, including children? Or will they get away with it?
let them finish there safty check in there...
in your dreams!!!! shame on the owners or authorities to re-open this mall! so selfish! they should change the place into something different... what if you are one of the families of the victim?
Life in Qatar goes on without Villaggio.
If God's will, it wont be re-opened.
don't go out?
@Minoush:
Prove what point? All it comes down to is poor management and licensing. The nursery should never have had a permit to operate with the layout and lack of emergency exits. Simple as that, but tragic nonetheless.
If you think Landmark or CitiCenter (older malls) are any better up to code or general safety, you are only kidding yourself.
..
Here's my take... I think about those poor 19 victims everyday...but, I live less than 5 minutes from Villiago, One stop light and I'm there. If I boycott and go to Landmark (the next closest mall) it will take me 30 minutes and I will have to go through 7 big R/A's, take Fourusiya Rd, go through Madinat Khalifa to get to Landmark. What is the likelihood of me getting into a serious car accident with me doing this 2-3 times a week (about the same frequency of going to Villiago) with a baby in my car? Extremely high... So, even though I feel so horrible over what happened, I cannot risk my own life driving to Landmark just to "prove a point".
I don't go to the mall to "hang out". I go for groceries, and other things for my household and children.
So yes, I will be going back to Villiago.
Dear All,
Today, Tuesday, Rajjab 22nd, 1433 A.H. is the sixth anniversary for Carrefour Villaggio. It was opened in Wednesday, Rajjab 22nd, 1427 A.H. as I know.
The first shop was Carrefour Hypermarket.
No matter what, who can someone go back to that place and have a nice time, knowing, that 19 people have died there? I will never ever step my foot there! People without jobs? At least they live! And they have children to hug in the morning! How quickly memories go....

hello guys
why you are soo eager to go to villaggo let them finish the work in there and its not a kind of work that can be done in a day or in a week so be patient and let them finish there work. you people want them to finish the work in one month with low perfection or let them take there time and finish in full perfection. well i will go with the second option.a good safety is always good.
thanks shellyjean..
I heard months ago that they would remove Villagio, so that rumor comes as no surprise, however. . .in the meantime, it was a necessary facility that is going to be sorely missed, especially during the summer when there are not a lot of other entertainment/distraction(anyway) options.
I think it should be noted that the remodel of the food court at City Center seems to have been going on for well over 3 months now-and I believe that involved a small fire and I never heard of it in the news, just rumors from the neighborhood. Seeing how long it took them to get Dean and DeLuca in the mall, I really don't see them re-opening any time soon.
For the families of the victims, the fire is a total tragedy and a heartbreak. It breaks the hearts of all of us in Qatar. There is also a bigger picture of employees and citizens that will have their lives more difficult because of this-these difficulties will range from mild inconvenience to a total loss of income and future-so don't give Robert a hard time.
EVEN IF Villagio opens ,,,it would be for a short time only ...may be a coouple of years....RUMOUR has it that Villqgio is going to be DEMOLISHED to make way for a NEW STADIUM for the FIFA 2022
Even , when and IF Villagio reopens , RUMOUR has it that VILLAGIO WILL BE DEMOLISHED to make way for a NEW STADIUM for the FIFA 2022.....so Villagio WILL BE HISTORY in a few years ANYWAY
thanks for the informations,, enjoy your weekends..
V will close until they got new Building Certificate of fitness(CF)approval especially on building emergency escape and evacuation plan, i believe.
In my opinion, fatality incident case at least 3 months is the minimum closure. Investigation itself is very time consuming, as well as renovation and upgrading work! For V ex employees, hopefully the government will do something and allocate them under disaster fund.
Just now i can say that I will never be able to have the same comfort while shopping again in villagio..however that's my point of view..
Tigerboyy stop being so rude!..
Of course it's the employers' responsibility. And we've all seen how responsible employers are. The OP has every right to be concerned for his livelihood and future. This is not some inconvenienced shopper.
Mandi
Will be open ....NEXT CENTURY
If you guys don't realize, the OP is an employee...NO WORK...NO PAY.
If he couldn't work, how he gets his pay AND SEND money to support his family back home.
We are all aghast with what happened and want JUSTICE. But do remember, there are hundreds of employees who are now OUT OF WORK BECAUSE OF THIS and it ALSO NEED attention.
Yes, others will say, the employers' responsibility, TRUE. But what if they can't be re-assigned to another branch (if any)? Worse comes to worst: these employees will be sent home JUST LIKE THAT...no end of service, no extra pay...
Sometimes...THINK BEFORE YOU POST.
or a TROLL?
!!
I wish you should see more of Townnios & Cityyos around here !!
Good luck .... to resume your work very very soon & prosper ...... !!!
i meant no harm in asking such question.. yes we all know lives got affected there..
lets be realistic. we all know 19 people got affected, leaving their families in a nick of time,
but please be reminded that there are thousands of expats/locals(?) that are working or should i say taking their living out of villaggio.
i myself working there, and this kind of situation somehow worries not only me but others as well.
again i meant no harm.. its just asking for an idea (theoretically speaking)
if in any case i have offended anyone,, my apologies.
thanks,
sincerely,
it should be NOW!
let's see how this will be handled and also how the safety of those working in these malls will be addressed in the near future.
If you have to pay rent for the place you use to live and calling the landlord - '' Materialism '' - or [ accurate word ] materialistic is quite understandable.
You can see here itself, people really have goodwill at heart like you , for their favourite shopping / entertaining place / a must for visitors as well.
it's a realistic question.
I think people will go there again. Villagio is a convenient place for a lot of people. I know for me I live in aziziya so it is very easy for to go to Carrefour, sephora and virgin and other shops without having to go across town.
Someone told me it will re open in mid to late July. But I don't know how accurate that is.
Will people come again there for shopping? After all those tragic memories??? I won't. May be singles but for sure it is doubtful family with children will willingly go there. Not until years and not until it is certified that it has all needed for safety measurements.
Yes , it should open as soon as possible.
All business establishments need to be in business.
they will open a certain portion of the mall that is not that risky in case of fire (if they will be lenient and little consideration).
Strictly, and if all items mentioned by Azi above is to be corrected or satisfied. 6 months will not even enough. I know they will find a way for a compromise.
too much employees are working in this place. how will it be?
The good image had been ruined.
People come to mall for entertainment. Will now people able to enjoy anything there while thinking a tragic thing had happened there? I couldn't!! Especially the thought of those young angels who had gone too soon??
*Investigation to the cause of the fire is still going on...
*and correcting/repairing the sprinkler will take ages
*fire alarms needs to be re-checked and repaired/upgraded a well.
*fire damage assessments on all establishments will take time.
*owners will have to pay penalties/fines AND clear the legal/criminal/civil charges BEFORE they could operate as a mall.
* Let's say in 1 or 2 months or less...depending on how fast or slow things gonna be.
