As DaRude said I was too polite a few days ago, I think I have to go along with that notion and thank another very polite QL'er for this post... directed at yours truely.

"Amoud..then you are part of the problem arn't you, you dumb arse...Where did you learn to drive?? i suppose you don't indicate either when turning corners?

And for you last numb comment 'that no cars in the world have rear fog lights' well all i can say is that you have never left Qatar.. most cars from 2000 onwards, anywhere else in the world have at least 1 rear fog light. all cars, again in most countries other than Qatar, from 2005 onwards have 2."

Here is one forum about driving with fog , that I post previously in Qatar living.

I'll advise you to read the posting , before you kill someone or you get hurt.

Same experience this morning.. all of the cars moving on the road has their hazard lights on.. so I guess it is OK here in Qatar eh..

Cheers

Did you use your windshield wipers to clear your driving foggy glasses?

i know you need them for driving.

By tallg• 1 Jan 2009 13:59

Agreed brit.

It's dangerous (and illegal in many countries) to use hazard warning lights when driving.

It's dangerous (and illegal in many countries) to not use fog lights when driving in fog.

I also had a friend who was stopped and fined for driving with his fog lights on when it wasn't foggy.

The use of hazard warning lights is strage.. rather than help, it hinders the driver behind, because he/she doesn't know if the person in front is going to turn or not..

By the way, in many countries, the use of "fog lights" when NOT driving in fog is illegal.

i got a coastal light house, that I used for warning against the fog. Is in the back of my car and it does rotate 360 degrees. Which way you want it to be facing, only for demostration purposes?

Definitely not a nice way to put across his point.

But to address the issue that was being discussed, your assertion that "No car in the world is equipped with rear fog lights" is wrong. Every car I've ever owned has had rear fog lights.

And I'm of the opinion that hazard warning lights should not be used while the vehicle is moving. In fact it's illegal in some (many?) countries. Not sure about here though.

One... I am not actually upset by this, fed up perhaps. I dont usually heed such ignorance but when the boss is away the mice will play.

Thought also perhaps people might think that "hey, I dont need to call that guys an a**hole to say what I want". Highly unlikely but worth a go.

it helps if you deal with them in a way that will make them realize who the dumb a$$ really is.

I would have to go with Loulsy.. Doesn't do any good. People have their hangups and don't have the courtesy or knowhow to communicate cordialy..

Look at it another way. It livens up the place:)

Ha, Drac I was just going to edit my nice posts about you.... I dont think it would be ladylike for me to name names of people who reply to questions about hazard lights in the fog :)

You are so right Lously.... :) Happy New Year

Drac, the ECE regulations in Qatar can be a bit like the no smoking law... existant but not in practise. Take a look around.

Dont bother yourself with such people honestly. When you do something like this you show them that they have effected you and what they think matters..

Just ignore bcz they dont deserve a reply back..

ECE Regulation 48 http://www.unece.org/Welcome.html, vehicles must be equipped with one or two bright red "rear fog lamps" (or "fog taillamps"), which serve as high-intensity rear position lamps to be energised by the driver in conditions of poor visibility to enhance vehicle conspicuity from the rear.
