thai snack is a horrible place

went to thai snack (in al sadd) last week. its the most horrible place i have to say. the guy at the cash counter is a nasty piece of work. he made fun of my wife, when she went to the counter to place the order as no member of staff came to take our table to take the order. he copied what she was saying and in a funny voice. then later on when we went to pay he did the same thing. he is lucky i didn't punch his ugly face inside-out. then, in his own language, he said to his colleagues, "they are indians" (i know this because i could make out the word 'indians'). NEVER going there again and i have complained to the concerned authorities.

thank you all for your comments. those who said i should've punched him, those of you who said i did the right thing for not doing so, thanks to you too. looking back at the incident, i think i was right for not getting into an argument. needless to say, i am not going there again. the best we can do is boycott that place. wagamama is much better than bloody thai snack :). have a good day all!

Let's boycott that joint. My wife is Chinese and they treat us like shit. Fucking animals. We're never eating there again and you shouldn't either. Thai Snack? More like Thai Shit. Fuck those fools.

We used to laugh about our waiter who seemed to take pride in serving us without ever saying a word. Occasionally we'd make him respond and we would all have a laugh. Ignore their brusqueness and concentrate on the good food.

Having traveled a lot and especially around Thailand I can assure you that Thais are extremely racist and prejudiced bunch. This applies to whites too (no hi-so high society thai woman would liaise with a white dude), however Indians and Arabs figure on the lowest rung to them. Don't be fooled by their smiles (it's just business as usual).

That being said, you could have just complained to capitol police that your wife was abused by the staff. Other than getting the idiot deported to the stinkhole he/she came from, i'm not sure you would have achieved anything much.

PS: I recommend Item 127 on the menu - Chicken Anus

Oh yeah? I never had a bad experience there, though they would take your order with blank expression on their face using a touchscreen gadget and leave your table without any word if they are still coming back, everything is great. :)

Thai snack used to be on Al Nasr street I believe but I thought they had closed/moved. At least they were closed for awhile. They used to be good but like many establishments dropped in quality over time. I hear Thai Smiles is pretty good in comparison!

Punching and/or behaving violent might have very well backfired and you may have ended up on the wrong side of the law.

By complaining to the authorities concerned, hopefully you will get your justice.

Certainly that guy was a jerk, and kudos to you and indeed your wife, a lady after my heart, for maintaining dignity and decorum even in the face of such dastardly behavior.

and I can say that their staffs are not friendly.

they never smile.

maybe they are all underpaid and overworked.

nonetheless, that is not a permit to mock someone...

Thai people... sawasdee!

Why did you wait for a week to lodge your complain in Qatar Living? You should have called DaRuDe immediately in this kind of situation and delegate your authority to him to punch that guy. He would have thrilled by the opportunity.

May be he would have brought UKEngQatar as his side kick also.

I have been there and the waiter has some serious problem. But whenever someone behaves irrationally with me I think he is having a bad day and I am not so that makes me happy :) I like the food there and so I go often order what I want, eat and leave. Don't tip if they behave in a bad way :)

Bro... I can understand how you feeling... I guess you did the right thing by controlling your anger cuz only animals let loose when another animal trespasses their territory... Its always good to behave like humans and deal issues in a civil manner... I have no clue, how good the food was.. But even if it was ordinary, and if I were in your place, i would re-visit that place.. and if the incident re-occured, I would immediately call the cops... And myself, being an Indian, i am talking about cops of Qatar... They would handle it in most justful manner... NOT TO FORGET, misbehaving with a FEMALE in Qatar in itself is a severe crime... This bugger has mocked your wife.. This is SERIOUS STUFF

Whilst they NEVER smile in there and the customer service is questionable at best...I still love the place and go back regularly. Never been abused, so this could be an isolated experience, still not great nonetheless.

However, all the big words about punching people and reporting them to the beladiya....LOL....yeah right. One will get you kicked out of the country, the other will get you .....NOTHING. 'He was rude to me, so I punched him'

It's Doha, if every rude person got punched the streets would be littered with bodies....

Reminds me of the situation at the Departure lounge where I felt punching someone. A stupid youngster keeping his bag on the chair and telling the Indian 'hey I am Chinese'.
