Hello All. My cars I have had to place in storage until I return to the UK, namely Land rover defender 90 diesel and a GTE Scimitar (1975) SE5a c/w 3.0 litre V6. Like Britexpat I have had an Alfa in the past and it is the best car I ever had. Alfa Romeo Junior GT 1300 The engine and gear box for a 1971 car was fantastic, the body work rusted away, shame really. The engine was a straight 4, twin overhead cam, cross flow head c/w 2 twin choke webber carbs. Plus wet lined engine aluminium engine. Fish tail oil sump. exhaust were individual pipes from the head into 2 then into one large pipe as standard. I keep looking to find another but in the UK they are getting a tad expensive.....GTV I love this car's styling, so very good. All jap cars have no soul, never owned one, dont want one.

Salsa: Modern cars are just clones. They may be more dependable , but there is no individuality and not much fun in driving

Yea mohd is right, they dont make japanese cars like they used to. Japan put more money and craftmenship in the cars back in those days, now a days 90% of japanese cas are made or assembled outside of japan. I still think a few lexus modles or landcruise are still made in japan.

No wayyyy you've got an Alfa? Which one? A certified petrolhead then...here, a new one's coming...great ad too...you must've heard of this one...my top two cars will always be the Lamborghini LP670 SV and the R34 Skyline GTR, but the third keeps changing...its this new Alfa these days...looks lovely and has the sexiest name ever...check it out :-)

Excellent . I'm exactly the same. Hate the anonymity of modern cars. I have an old Alfa Romeo and a Nissan Cube at home . They cost a lot to run, but I love them..

Brit, i cant break this to you without disappointing you because you like most people are bound to have your automotive prejudices...but bear with me...its a 1998 camry...hang on hang on...its a v6...manual tranny...and nowadays almost impossible to find...why do i like that vintage of camry so much? Well, when i was 18, the v6 camrys/accords/maximas/magnas were among the fastest cars young (common) kids could buy in doha...most of those cars were crashed or scrapped and very few remain today...its part sentimental that i wanted that same car and part practical...the best japanese cars were the 90s and early 2000 ones...i kid you not, those generation camrys are quiter and plusher than a spanking new 2015 one...i like my car to be truly mine and not like every other car...remove the badges and one couldnt tell most new cars apart...no personality...ive spent under 40k on it so far including purchase price and its now got its own unique personailty...bigger wheels, performance tires/suspension, bigger brakes nicked from a lexus, no ABS ,no stability control, reduced power steering, banging sound system with soundproofing and topped off with a shiny black paintjob with 'black as a cave' velour interior...it thinks i own an oilfield and drinks petrol like no ones business... spends its nights racing outside the city...keeps up with and beats brand new cars...and because it knows i am a young guy just starting out in life, it takes care of my money (i dont do credit cards) and only asks for an oil change and brake pads every now and then...and hey, the clincher is its got an actual handbrake...theres no v6 available right now which i like enough to buy...when i do find a good rear wheel drive v6 with a handbrake, ill buy it...but this car will stay too, she's not going anywhere, my labour of love...sorry for the novel, but thought you'd enjoy it since real car guys know that one doesnt need to have a lamborghini to love their car...your pink kia with racing stripes is testament to that haha..

I got my own car off QL...rented a car for two years while i hunted for the car i wanted...no luck...it was too old and thus too rare in qatar...desperate, i put up a wanted ad on QL, with minimal expectations...two months later, voila....this cop calls me, says he has what i need, in poor condition, and that i can come pick it up...we did the transfer same evening without me even seeing the car...today, it is my biggest happiness in life and i thank QL everytime i think about how this car came into my life...
