With respect to Swine Flu, I would never recommend Karwa to anyone who was concerned about inappropriate driver behavior.

is safe here is Qatar. Either in Karwa or in private taxi. Taxi driver(Karwa o private) will not start gossip with you unless you talk to them. You are 100% safe with the driver but not safe in the road.

I don't travel alone. But I can't say that it's not safe traveling alone here. Maybe, to make you feel safe, just take a karwa taxi. If you can take note of its plate number (which is a bit off if you get it before riding..) and send it to your friend or someone you can trust, then I guess it'll make you feel more safe. =)

I dont think I shall ever have the courage to drive in this country. It's like boys on a racetrack.

I believe it is really safe here, you should not worry with karwa taxis especially.

But if Taxis (legal and illegal) are safe, the road is not :-) even if it is much better than what it used to be !

It is safe for young ladies in Karwa taxis.. No issues...

Ramada near Megamart has always got taxis but it's a bit of a walk..

Thanks Saler575. Is it safe even for a young lady by herself? I take the normal cautions--make a point of phoning a friend when I am in the taxi, would only be in one by myself in daylight. Is that enough here?

The paper had shocking stories because thats what sells. Unless you go to the industrial area at 2 in the morning..youll be fine.

I know this is a bit off topic . . . but do you feel safe traveling alone in taxis here??? I'm a recent arrival and the paper had a couple of shocking stories. thanx
