The race is heating up...for the tiny car...

Tara Tiny, Oreva Super (both reportedly even cheaper than Tata Nano) and REVA pose even more significant danger to Nano

Bajaj Auto-Renault-Nissan JV are planning a $2,500 car that will aim at a fuel-efficiency of 30 km/litre, or twice an average small car, and carbon dioxide emissions of 100 g/km.

Fiat, General Motors, Ford Motor, Hyundai and Toyota Motor are all planning small cars....Phew!!!

How safe is this car?

This car passes all the safety tests required in india including full frontal crash, roof crush (Roll over), side door intrusion for doors, etc.

Nano design is also package protected for European safety tests like offset frontal & side impact. In addition other safety features like collapsible steering, ELR type seat belts at front, high mount stop lamps are provided.

Nano LX has host of other safety and security features like front and rear fog lamps and central locking and antiglare IRVM. It also has a Hazard Warning Light switch which can be operated without the Ignition being turned on. This can be used in case of breakdowns esp. in the night when the vehicle has to be parked off the road or when the vehicle is operated in adverse conditions.

Lol...MD....finally a solution for all the accidents...and speeding....and one doesn't have to bother of it getting stolen either ....lol

Nano's top speed is 105Kmph

Reva electric car's top speed is 80Kmph (QR 30,000)

ith an astonishing milage of 23KmPer Litre!!!

One will have to fill it less than twice a month (15Ltr Fuel tank).

every_mothers_n... It is truly way above indian saftey standards....and definately above Kia Piccanto!!!

LX version (Qr 14,000)has

Mp3 Player

Front & rear Seat Belts

Central locking

Power Windows

Airconditoning

Fog lamps

Radial & TubeLess Tyres

Laminated Windshield (so that the wind shield stays even after minor crash).

The Power to weight ratio in Nano is ~58 PS/ ton which is higher than that of any other level car in the Indian market.

I think its going to be more of a student's vehicle...

lol Munna & Rizks ...Per Litre Petrol =Rs55 while Gas=23....In Mumbai almost every vehicle (Taxies, Autos, Cars, even some buses)run on CNG.....

WagonR sells as it comes company fitted with CNG.

Extract from Drive Arabia on Kia Piccanto:

-Radio cassette player ...duh!! (even corolla has one).

- Manual air-conditioning,

- combination vinyl-cloth cabin,

- seat belts

- We believe most markets do not get anything more than seat belts as safety features!!!

But it does have its minus points....

Boot is from inside...

Petrol only ....no CNG(Gas) variant yet....everybody is using Gas in India instead of petrol.....so this is definitely a let down....
