A laidback guy just recently lost his job and drinks to its failure. He forgots to pick up her daughter at the voting precinct because he's drunk. But while the daughter is waiting, she tries to take on responsible voting for his dad but ended up an error due to a voting machine that gets accidentally unplugged when she's about to cast the vote. The next day news announced that the US presidency campaign 'tied' and went too close to call and they went on looking for reasons. It was the dad's vote that didn't count so the elections committee went straight to his home and 'guard' him of influences until he can cast his vote on the next 10 days. The guy suddenly was an instant star to all the US television networks as he gets the whole town famous for his 'uncounted vote' mistakenly done by her daughter...but not when the two aspiring presidential candidates try to 'lure' him with as much as many 'influences'.
I'm fond of any Kevin Costner movies and this was another sudden odd character he played (got used to stereotyping Costner in his 'macho American roles'), a totally laidback guy, but still well performed. The humor was hilarious. Plenty of one-liners that hits the inanities of politics and media, contrasted by the 'truthful' character that was Kevin Costner, but has a balance of patriotism by her daughter's hope and eagerness of making things right for America.
