Strange Festivals - We need one here..
– How about QL having one for Doha.. Perhaps an "Abuse Festival".. We shout, hurl abuse at each other without reprisal...Oh hold on.. we do that on QL anyway..
BEAUTIFUL BEASTS
Farmers in the Philippino town of Pulilan really love their field ploughing water buffalo.
So every year they thank the beasts by massaging them with oil and spraying them with perfume.
The buffalo are then decorated with paint and ribbons before being paraded through the town.
RADISH RAVE
The Night of the Radishes takes place in Oaxaca in Mexico every December 23.
Giant examples of the veg, up to 50 cm long, are carved into amazing shapes and arranged into nativity or party scenes.
FRUIT FIGHTERS
The tiny Italian town of Ivrea recreates a medieval battle every Easter. It celebrates an uprising where the townsfolk overthrew an evil king.
But instead of using swords, the nine teams and 3,000 people taking part hurl oranges at each other.
In cold weather the fruit can freeze rock hard. Orange you glad you aren’t there?
CHEEKY MONKEYS
The town of Lopburi in Thailand is home to more than 600 pushy primates and once a year the residents treat them to a slap-up meal.
The feast is prepared by four chefs and set out on a giant plate by 30 waiters.
The furry fiends are entertained by 25 traditional Thai dancers while they chomp their way through the three tonnes of grub.
