A Story book and a Rule book
Last night I had a very interesting debate with our local Immam from the Turkish Moshee near me ( Germany). He said something which interested me, his statement was that the Quran was a rule book where the Bible was a story book, of course he said the Bible has the Ten Commandments but is a story and a collection of stories giving examples of morals rather than rules setting out the boundaries.
The Qaran, as a rule book, dictates the way life should be, it is he said open in some areas to interpretation but generally it is clear in its meaning.
Hes opinion was that the troubles today with the Muslim world is its difficulty to accept the way other faiths try to adapt themselves to changes in their world against what their religion says. For a Muslim, what the Quran says is rule, you cannot water it down to meet the ever changing world. Here he said the Muslim looses respect for other faiths that change things in their religion to suit todays world.
We covered many others aspects last night which are to long to go into but just wanted to share that thought with you
