Hi Everyone!! I got some frozen squid...Am wondering what to do with them... Something easy i can cook up. Any suggestions???

With Idiappam...

Clean the squid and make gashes on it.Dry roast chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, fenugreek seeds and a sprig of curry leaves for a couple of minutes.Heat oil in a wok.Saute onion, ginger, garlic, green chillies till they become soft. Now wait for a minute or two to cool the sauted ingredients(the powders too) and grind it into a coarse paste. Now add the tomato puree to the paste and whisk it for a minute. Now pour this mixture over the cleaned squid.Add salt as required.Leave it for 10 minutes. Now add the cocum juice and enough water for the required consistency and cook it over a medium flame for nearly 8-10 minutes or till the squids are cooked properly. Finally add a sprig of curry leaves and mix well.(You may add a pinch of sugar, for a good twist).(The squid curry again tastes better the next day, wonder y!).

As a side dish ,u can have...the Local 'Kallu shaap'Fry!

:-p

1)Clean and cut the squid into small pieces.

2)Marinate them with little chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt.

3)Heat oil in a frying pan.

4)Add the green chillies, curry leaves, cumin seeds and then the onions.

5)Fry until the onions are brown.

6)Add ginger and garlic paste and fry well.

7)Add chilly powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder.

8)After the spice powder gets fried in the oil, add in the tomatoes and a bit of salt.

9)When the tomatoes are done, put the squid pieces in and fry them in the oil.

:- Add a bit more of oil if required.

10)When the squid is half cooked, add the shredded coconut and stir until it is fully cooked.

The only consistent feature in all of your dissatisfying relationships is you.!

Alexa remember to stick to exact cookin time. Squid if overcooked becomes rubbery.

It tkes awhile .....

A man asks his wife to cook squid for him.

She says that it will take at least three hours.

The man is perplexed; "but why should the squid take three hours to cook?"

The wife replies "Because he keeps turning off the gas"

try cooking it in white sauce tossed with sun dried tomatoes, basil and paprika, the good thing about this you can add it to any pasta, you may add some shrimps and tuna flakes with a bit of white cheese ( or blue cheese) then topped with mozzarela before baking it...spicy u want? add more paprika and ginger paste, also add red chili flakes (sundried)..Bon apetite!

here's an easy recipe.

cut it in small sizes. mince some garlic, pour enough soysauce, squeeze a little lemon, salt and pepper to make it spicy. cook it in low heat. make sure you still have sauce.

cut the tentacles Next, cut the body section into ½ inch (1 cm) rings Place them in a shallow dish, adding the reserved tentacles. Squeeze the lemon juice over, toss and leave it for 5 minutes, when it will have absorbed most of the juice. Drain the squid through a colander and shake to remove excess liquid.

Next, heat the oil in a large, solid frying pan, add the garlic and lemon zest, cooking very slowly as it comes up to heat. When it is really hot add the squid and fry it in the hot oil, keeping it on the move so it just slightly takes on colour at the edges – it will only take about 1-2 minutes to cook.

Then add salt,pepper and parsley

.

I'm with JassKat...grill it lighltly. Nothing worse than overcooked rubbery squid. Here's an idea (I'm presuming it's cleaned?) :

Make a marinade of olive oil, lemon, cumin and S&P. Leave squid in for at least an hour.

Remove squid from marinade and grill for no more than a couple of minutes each side.

Yum :)
