Speaking of unicorns and goblins....

...does anybody think all these creatures existed?I grew up reading stories of unicorns, fairies, elves, pixies, goblins and ogres.Did these creatures really exist at some point of time?Or could they be pure figments of some very imaginative minds?hmm....

and there was a time when i really believed that there indeed is an enormous treasure at the other end of the rainbow :-)

i remember my Ma reading out stories from Enid Blyton books and me sitting at her feet in wide-eyed wonder.used to conjure up all those stories in my mind at bedtime and drift off to dreamland.loved those times...i don't think many kids today would even know Enid Blyton.ask them if they know who's bin Laden and u'll get a perfect answer :-(

These stories fire the imagination and allow us to "picture".
They can be as diverse as Lord of the rings or The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant.
In my opinion, they are a neccessity for the mind to flourish.
I always thought they exist till in class 7 or so...
more than reading..my grandma used to tell me believable stories... which I thought was real and happened in her days..
But my son now ask so many questions, its difficult to convince him...kids are much more smarter now..
i really wish the kids of today are brought up like the way we were....with fairy tales and dolls and toy trucks and Thomas the Red Steam Engine :-D instead of the Playstations and internet gaming of today....i feel sorry for the kids of today, really.they're missing so much!

i certainly wouldn't mind if one day a fairy would appear in front of me, or a unicorn perhaps.. just not those goblins and other hideous creatures... :P
This is all part of growing up. Let children belive and have a childhood. It's all part of growing up.
Even as adults we need "escapism" and "fantasy" to help us through many of the harsh realities of our existence.
my daughter believes in the tooth fairy.. her tooth fell off weeks ago, and of course, we put in under her pillow,.. she woke up the next day, checked under the pillow and found a 100-riyal note instead of a tooth.. :P
during childhood,i strongly supported their existence...claiming that the tooth fairy came to me and that some queer lil guy with a sack thrown over his shoulder came and put sleep dust over my eyes every night and that i had to rub it away in the morning when i woke up :-D sweet times! :-)

Fairies do exist. I have a dear friend who can mince with the best of them.
