I am not an Animal rights activist but I find it weird when people who eat some Animals show their "love" for some other animals.

Animal Activists?

How about intelligent human being with an understanding of the difference between right and wrong.

Some fat kid eating an ice cream while watching a tiger jump through fear of being beaten if it doent do it.

Right....or wrong?

Now in 2010, We, human beings have solved all our "International" problems from poverty to wars, from slavery (in all its "modern" forms) to dicrmination and racism, from famine of children in Africa to Haiti Orphans, from Middle East crisis to Tibet Independence. Thanks God for giving us time and power to fight animal "creulity".

So...

Let me get this right.

Peoples argument for allowing such a vile practice to take place is that their is other injustice in the world, therefore, this injustice is ok?

I'm presuming this way of thinking means that there can be no compassion in the world, until everything can be fixed at the same time?

Why work on one point when another needs sorting out?

Surely the cognitive behaviour we are blessed with allows us to make the right choices for things that are wrong.

Sticking your head in the sand and pretending that you cant make an ethical choice because somebody else is doing something worse is a ridiculous argument.

You have the ability right now to make a choice in regard to animal cruelty, by not going to a circus.

If you feel that you are not intelligent enough to see a circus for the cruelty and injustice that it is, or if you feel that you cant do anything about it because there are other problems you would like to see fixed first. then I pity you.

Perhaps across the globe we should stop doing any good, so we can get a list together for every wrongdoing. Once we get the list together then we have to fix it all at the same time......otherwise its not worth doing???????????????

Ridiculous

Qatarblue,

You are right, I don't see why these people are all worried about the animals while there are many maids and labourers treated much worse than animals.

Yes shoeaddict there are clowns, I am performing :)

I do agree that animals are really treated very badly in these places and are mostly beaten repeatedly till they learn the "trick", these forms of entertainment should be banned..

Then again I also think the practice of killing any animal to satisfy your urge of eating it should also be stopped.. ( There is no humane and painless way of killing, killing is killing)

And like someone mentioned already, there are human beings living in worse conditions compared to these circus animals in Doha so I wish some people show some compassion towards them too...

Why can't Qatar bring in this troupe? This group can really entertain without the use of animals. Animals don't belong in the circus no matter how humane you treat them. Btw, isn't Qatar a signatory of PETA?

Some of the labourers/maids are treated far worse and have worse living conditions than the circus animals in Qatar, so I expect a full house every night it is open!

Unfortunately there are too many idiots that don't give too hoots about animals and will quite happily sit there and watch poor animals prance around performing un-natural acts without a care in the world.

I had to do a lot of research into animal circus and it's shocking the methods they use to train the animals, the conditions they're kept in and the way they're generally treated.

There's no excuse. If you have any humanity and want to bring your children up to respect living creatures, you won't visit the circus.

If you have any compassion for life, dont go.

This ridiculous and outdated form of entertainment should have been closed down globally years ago.

After 5 minutes of entertaining you, spare a thought for where it spends the other 23 hours and 55 minutes of each day

An Italian circus is set to start today at Souq waqif, promising great entertainment to people of all ages. Souq waqif manager Mohd al salam said the circus tent near the traditional Ushairej coffee shop had a seating capacity of 300, he said the shows would be FREE....to show public," although such a entertaintment cost about $ 60 per person in Europe". The circus has animal shows featuring lions, horses and bears as well as many other entertaining items. The circus, which is the part of the spring festival, also includes "celebrity look-alike" shows that have already started."Look-alikes of Actors,Footballers and Singers have been going around the lanes of the souq, interacting with the people. The "celebraties" include Angalina,Jolie,Brad Pit,David Beckham,Ronaldo,Ronaldhino and Mr Bean.

These animals have been taken from the wild, put in cages, then transorted around the world to perform tricks

i personally prefer going to circuses that are devoid of animal acts....with just the usual tight-rope walking, acrobatics, clowns, etc.i feel genuinely sorry for what the poor animals are made to do for the sake of money.

gosh .... what rakkus ......

There is a possibility that animals are trained humanely and are treated well we should not assume the worst without facts.

as for my personnel opinion wild animals belong in wilderness not in zoos or circuses how much well treated or loved this is not their life.

ofmyheartshape

This is your reasoning for a Circus being OK?

Dont assume i use leather. How can you make any assumptions without the facts?

You think I use leather because you do?

Happily, I am not you

You should always argue against fact

I have a few facts about this story

number 1 - Caged wild animals who have been beaten so they will stand on their back legs will make you say ooh and ahh while eating an ice cream

number 2 - you're an idiot

By Olive• 17 Feb 2010 13:25

There's a bit of a difference between quickly and painlessly killing and animal for it's meat & skin and actively torturing it on a daily basis Ofmyheartshape.
