Sorry Qatar out of 2020 Olypics

I think the 2020 bid was just to keep them in the spotlight. The IOC would be fools to give it to Qatar UNTIL they've proven they can handle the World Cup.

I got a feeling that 2020 will go Turkey's City Istanbul..:)

How on God's green earth (or brown earth) were they going to be able to host the 2020 olympics - just the idea of a marathon being run in 50c heat boggles the brain. They can aircon stadiums all they like but an entire 26 mile outdoor route?? Never going to happen

.....2024 would be a good bet, infrastructure done for 2024 and half of doha under a sphere to tackle da heat....:-/

Qatar said its a matter of WHEN not If we will host the Olympics. Very Broad statement after consecutive second time rejection at the first hurdle.

It seems the members of the IOC actually read the technical evaluation unlike FIFA and based their decision on evidence. That is quite shocking in today's society.

Shocked to hear that , it would have been icing on cake however we still have 2022 !!

I must say I am surprised, I would have thought they would have made the cut this time. Maybe after the Salt Lake City incident the IOC has really changed unlike FIFA

I am sad for Qatar but on the other hand so very happy! Why? Because if Qatar stuffed up with the summer Olympics before the World Cup, it would look very bad and possibly deter people from coming which would be so much worse!

Qatar needs to focus on getting their act together for that big event IMHO and doing it properly and there is little time left - going on how slowly things like roadworks are progressing!

I am 100% behind Qatar to get it right - I believe it will ensure Qatar's future - if not? who knows what will happen to Qatar and it won't be good.
