By hapy

There's lot of negative stuff on Qatar on QL, to which i too might have contributed a bit,but this thread is about good things in Qatar.

* People respect women here much more than most places in the world.

* Its one of the safest country.

* Qatar provides excellent healthcare facilities to all residents at minimal or no charges.

*Oil is cheap.

You guys forget about the cheap calling rates the TWO telecoms provide?? Not to mention the high speed internet available for mere 400 riyals? Banks will give u loans with long term repayments and they dont even need any guarantor* (yes that astrix is there for a reason :P)

Good Fortune always comes knocking at your door...when you are sh*tting in the toilet!! :)

but immoral still. Saw an arab family with their kids eating in a fastfood at Villagio but their househelp was not. She was just sitting there waiting. Maybe waiting. Waiting for heaven to touch her employers hearts? Just go into the food court of any mall in any given day, perhaps you'll see this. Dogs are better treated than some parts of the world. :(

agree with HUwna, no women from our country should be sent to any arab countries to work as domestic helpers for this idiots...

and Brit if abusing the househelp from third world countries like mine and Indonesia is not a crime (no statistics but I'm sure there's lots of them but just swept under) dunno what is. You're welcome to go to our embassy and ask. My personal wish is that no women from our country should be sent here to work as domestics, or to any arab country for that matter. I'm just stating a fact.

But I'm grateful for the work opportunities. Sorry to douse your high expectations.

I do love Qatar. But I just can't agree with the purported clean air (hack, cough), the parking, and the respect for women and it's certainly not tax free if you're from the US. But I do love the sunshine and the safety and above all, the people.

Sporting events: ATP tour, MotoGP, WSBK, Marine motorsports.

Beautiful beaches, and a little bit of desert proper too.

High street shopping (if that's your thing hehe, I enjoy it only when there are ridiculous discounts ;)

Educational facilities.

Plenty of opportunities to make a decent living at least, and lotsa money at best hehe.
