SME sector is hostage to "High Cost of Doing Business"
Qatar is eyeing its economic future through the small and medium enterprises. While the authorities are brain storming on how to arrange the financing for them, there is also a need to look at, on how to reduce the cost of doing SME business.
Realistically, SME failures are one of highest in Qatar due to high cost of doing business, as any new business has to pay huge rent of office and shop even during their struggle period, and there is no alternative to it at all in the entire country.
Until and unless this complex issue is resolved, there will be no substantial and continuing growth in the SME sector.
SME is just starting off by taking a few first baby steps, it has to go a long way, but if the decision makers get to know the core reality of SME failures they would come quickly to its rescue, i am sure.
brit, I think you have a misconception. I work with a Qatari (owner). The "Government" puts up endless requirements. And every month there are new ones. The government is not at all supporting SME!
WT: If it was the case, the the government would surely help
Legally the owners are all Qataris. (51%)
Question: Who owns most of the SMEs
Equi, That's the way ......... Every journey starts with one small step .................
