Two fantastic films from Afghanistan on the same ticket!
Both DFI Exhibition Series films, screening one after the other at the Museum of Islamic Art.

Screenings:
Thursday, 20 June at 6:15pm
Friday, 21 June at 3:15pm and 6:15pm

‘SKATEISTAN – Four Wheels and a Board in Kabul’ ticket holders have access to the earlier screening of 'Buzkashi Boys'. All listed screening times account for the full program (both screenings), if you are interested in ‘SKATEISTAN – Four Wheels and a Board in Kabul’ ONLY, the film will screen 45 minutes after the listed start time.

Nominated for the Academy Award for Best Short Film, 'Buzkashi Boys' is set against the dramatic landscape of contemporary Afghanistan and the national sport of buzkashi – a brutal game of polo played with a dead goat – ‘Buzkashi Boys’ is a groundbreaking film about two best friends, a charismatic street urchin and a defiant blacksmith's son, who strive to realise their dreams as they make their way to manhood in one of the most war-torn countries on Earth. Shot entirely on location in Kabul by an alliance of Afghan and international filmmakers, ‘Buzkashi Boys’ is a heartrending look at the life that goes on beyond the headlines of war in Afghanistan.

Tickets are available any time via the DFI mobile app or website (http://www.dohafilminstitute.com/films/skateistan-four-wheels-and-a-boar...), or from the DFI ticket outlet inside the Museum of Islamic Art, the open hours of which can be found under "ticket info" on our website.

DFI is proud to partner with the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) to present a film series in conjunction with Ferozkoh: Tradition and Continuity in Afghan Art, a temporary exhibition at MIA.

Ferozkoh presents 37 works created specifically for the exhibition by the students and teachers of the Turquoise Mountain Institute for Afghan Arts and Architecture in Kabul. Each item is inspired by a historical object in the MIA permanent collection.

These works demonstrate how Afghan artisans have renewed their traditions through effort, wit, skill and imagination. It symbolises, in the most positive way, a deep sense of Afghan pride.

The films in the series have been carefully selected to show the complex and diverse faces of Afghanistan. Chosen for their complementary themes and evocative stories, the films will ignite curiosity and help to bring the exhibition alive.

Ferozkoh runs from 20 March to 20 July 2013.
