A sincere confession

Dear Qlers,

Ive been a regular visitor to this site but never created an account, coz I used to believe in not indulging in an argument which has nothing to do with my life, but today I realized that I was wrong, everything in this world is related to me, God has made some men stronger than others and that’s not to rule the weaker ones but to help them, I would like to confess an incident of my life which happened to me today and I found myself guilty of killing someone, I'm feeling myself a murdered… I never knew that my ignorance may lead someone to death or my little care can save someone's life…

I'm not a regular visitor to restaurants but since a musical event is going on in one of the restaurants in Doha I visited there last night just to see the concert and while parking my car in the car park I saw a man sitting on the footpath, he was very dirty to look at and seemed to be depressed keeping his head down looking at the ground, I felt sad for the guy but I left him like that and went inside the restaurant, after the concert was over and I returned back near my car I saw him in the same position, he was looking all lost but I didn’t care and returned back my house. Today again at 2:45 pm I visited the same place and found some policemen with ambulance in the parking and I was shocked to see the dead body of the same old man…. I know I have made a sin, if I would have asked that man just once "what is the problem", I could have helped him, I could have saved his life, I don’t know how would I pay for this, but I request all of you if God has given us everything he has given us responsibilities as well and we must not overlook our responsibilities towards those who really are needy…

I pray to God to forgive me for this sin.

this reminds me of the real road situation the day before i got my drive license... one 4x4 toyota is tailing our pick up on a single lane road.... while just speeding from a 40-50kPh moving on... the Toyota behind keeps on beaming his lights on us... so i told our driver to get faster even for more to 60kPh... ok then we're running smooth and the Toyota stops beaming his headlights... but suddenly our driver made a sudden brake, stop and parkbrake engaged on ... on the middle of that single lane road.... and quickly open the door and ran infront of our vehicle...

Also the Toyota driver response immediately with a quicker much sudden brake behind us, stop and with parkbrake engaged on.

Apparently.... i expect the Toyota driver will shout at us... but the Toyota guy shake hand with our driver upon after letting go the cat in his hands placing beside the road. A cat stock blinded in the middle of the dark road that night.

Bismillah!! Life had been saved!!!

you can't save the world.

you've been trying so hard and it's brought you so much sorrow.

.

what he's failed to learn..is that we can't do that by ourselves.

cause we'd crash and burn.

i don't want a guy who wants to save the world.. cause he will be a man of disappointments.

and probably because he'll most likely think the world will stop revolving if he stops trying.

you can't be everyone's hero.

you'll never be free, if everything you strive for can only be found in people.

that by reading between the lines of your above confessions, what i saw was a coincidence of an incident...., so why felt guilty about it? you dont any either from your conscience to bother...

Sometimes,we have to be sensitive to other people's need. They might need emotional or spiritual help from us.It's our obligation as human beings, that we have to look after the welfare of one another..anyway,learn from this experience and try to be sensitive next time.

Take note:"No man is an island"...God bless.

Some incidents in the life that you can't manipulate . This is fate . And I believe even if you talked with him , nothing was changed . If a man decides to suicide , he does . No one can stop him , you can only delay the happening . We don't know what happened to the poor old man before , but it is obvious that he suffered too much , and no one could help him .

Yes , you have to feel guilty and pain , it reminds us our humanity and we have heart . But you are not responsible of his death . Probably , most of us even didn't care him . You feel guilty , because you cared to him , you felt sad when you saw him first time . Ask

I know a man who was barman in the place I used to visit . Everytime , he said that he will kill himself oneday . We talked too much with him , life is good , life is beatiful , lots of things to do , he has a daughter etc. etc. One day , I visited the same bar . He said " Life is disgusting , I can't stand anymore , I will kill myself " . Frankly to say I fed up to listen his complaints and didn't bother to talk with him . Just leave the bar and sit to the my friends' table .

Next day , we heard that Berkant ( the barman's name ) hanged himself . I feeled a deep guilty that I even didn't bother to listen him , just ran away from him .

Sometimes I see him in my dreams that he is alive and I am trying to convince him not to repeat it again .

All I can advise to you is that you have to look forward .

but you are not to blame for the mans death, you did what most others would have done, life is like that, cruel sometimes but please, you can't feel guilty, many other people will have walked passed the man just the same, you must put this sad event out of your mind and move on, there will be other occasions when you can help others.

My wishes go with you.

it's hard to know that you could save someone's life or at least could make easier someone's last moments in this world.. and you did not do anything...it's normal to feel guilty.. and thanks for reminding again to all of us, that we are responsible not for only ourselves, not for only our close ones, but for everyone and everything around.. yesterday you didn't bother to save this man's life, tomorrow someone won't bother to save yours one...

let us be more attentive, more caring, more sensitive to each other… life will be a bit easier…

but Da_Pseudointell, any psychologist would give the following advice: don’t get obsessed now with your guiltiness. You have got a hard lesson, just make sure next time you will act differently… and try to get rid of your sense of guiltiness…Otherwise it might lead to development of some certain complex, even to mental disorder. You cannot help this man anymore, but the society needs mentally healthy people…just learn your lesson and move on, man. And the rest of us will try to learn this lesson from your hard experience, and avoid repeating the same mistake..

thanks for being brave enough to sharing it with us...

I am sure 90% of us would be doing the same as what you did. We always think someone else will.. which is terribly wrong...

Lets all learn from here and pledge.. will never ignore again.

we could never understand how life paves way for our timely realizations.. but somehow, every experience is always a lesson to learn. we will never know, when we will all pass away. we will never know when our loved ones will, or even the strangers we meet on the road, what is important, is we acknowledge our inability to know. if you are living morally right, you don't have to feel sorry. its just how the cookie crumbles.. this is how life is for all of us..

people are tears waiting to be wept.

To feel guilty in such circumstances is entirely normal. I'm wondering what made you return there today? We cannot change the past though. Sometimes we reach out to help people but they reject our kindness and we have to put our cynicism behind us when the next opportunity to help someone arises. Perhaps this old man had lost his will to live, but we will never know. The fact that you are feeling so bad about it means that you aren't a bad person - what happened does NOT make you a murderer. It's a tragedy and let's hope that everyone can learn from reading about your experience.
