In UK, women want to be nuns to beat recession

More and more number of women are opting to become nuns in wake of recession. Figures are up by 66% on last year as women of all ages are ready to give up sex, drink, shopping and worrying about making ends meet to spend their days in silence, praying for hours on end.

"The recession makes people question, 'What is really important in my life?" the Mirror quoted Sister Gemma Simmonds, one of 18 nuns as saying.

Interesting News in the Times of India, don't they have their own News to print than the News from the Uk..:)

The way I see it, nothing derogatory was written about the UK in the news piece.

That being said, retaliating isn't necessarily going to close the issue.

vivme I say the same.

What is the intention of the OP to post some news about the UK which was posted in TOI. So I guess that the link to India!

Subject closed as looks like only party has the right to talk about the other country without looking at ones own short failings.

UK, the comment about India was not warranted especially since the OP did not have anything to do with India.

It is indeed appalling how people from the western world keep looking for opportunities to project India in bad light based on practices that were common in certain parts of the country decades ago.

Prism thanks for the personal assumptions about me. UK is my home land the land of my birth so stop assuming if you don't know me.

Now I am commenting on Hard times and what one does in their prospective country. Yes a few women in the UK are taking up the to be Nuns, so are many people in India committing suicide due to hard times.

The comment is about hard times and not after death!

UK...thanks, that was very informative. Even as an Indian I didn’t know that. Hope your home country (not the country of which u hold the passport) is doing good when it comes to women and they are safe, sound and achieving great heights in education and their professional life thereafter.

BTW how is 'after death' and 'recession' related... care to explain the relation, I am a bit slow today.

@ bilber...apology accepted on behalf of all Indian men..:)
