Should postings in other languages b allowed

Should the moderator allow postings in other languages? i know sum ppl can express themselves better in their own language. but then wht abut others who r reading the postings.i find it a bit off when i dont unerstand the postings made by the filipinos in their own language. i mean u guys know english pretty well , or are the postings supposed to be for your country ppl and not for the others. when there r 3 ppl in a room talkg, its considered rude to talk in a language tht is understood by one n not by the other. so y shud it be different in QL? u arent writing poetry. tht it has to be in tagalog.
i would just request them to write in english, coz tht ll be understood by all, unless its poetry.

Peace to all.

So much discussion for a simple thing...

I mean if it is written in another language...simple...

Ask for it to be translated,

OR just dont bother about it...cos 9 out of 10 times it is NOT MEANT for you to understand simply because it is not being said to you or about you...

Cheers...!!!

are u sure it was under the main forum topic? coz if somebody posts tagalog there, they are told right away to move it to the filexpat group...

There is nothing in the Community Guidelines that doesn't allow people to write posts other than English. HOWEVER, to respect people from other countries we have been encouraging members to write posts IN THE MAIN FORUM IN ENGLISH. So that others who may have some idea or interesting anecdotes on the topic could share them as well.

This being said we have been reminding, at least the members of our group, to be aware of the forum they are posting in. If it is in the main forum, write it in English. If it is in the group forum, write it in the language they are comfortable in. And if the topic is interesting or they would want inputs from others as well, to write it in English even though they are in the group forum.

Please note that most "violators" of the "English only in the Main Forum" unwritten rule are newbies. Maybe they are so excited to post their question/topic and are unaware of this unwritten rule that they just post anyway, anywhere.

However, it is incumbent upon us "oldies" to remind them POLITELY of their transgression and not put them off as disrespectful persons.

Before you open a thread you think is interesting, check the "type" of thread. if the type is "story" expect it's from a group, otherwise if it's "forum" then it should be from a main forum

and it turns out to be in tagalog or other..

Should not be in the main posting area..

if you happen to see threads in filipino/tagalog language, check which group it is in... chances are you're in the Fil Expat group... k? if you see them in the main forum threads talking tagalog, shooo... shooo them away... no problem, they will understand coz they deserve it... hope you'll be enlightened... peace & gmorning :)

1. Unless you are a member of that foreign language group, the post shouldn't show up.

2. Posting in a language other that English limits the number of responses you will get.
