i was wearing appropriate dress, sheila on, long dress with long sleeve and skinny jeans. next time wht kind of approaching method the guys in doha will do....

Sylvia, He was hitting on you, take it as a compliment. There are many ways a man approaches a woman depending on his level of experience and confidence and looks like in this case his "mumbling" indicated he was lacking in both but as long as he is not disrespectful I cant see the harm done.

Such a drama queen..next time tell a story where you're in the middle of no where and suddenly a hero saves you

there are a lot of men who think

No abaya = slut

The way my partner was treated was so vastly different when not wearing or wearing it, thats sadly how it is in Qatar

It can be unnerving when guys do things like that to a woman.

Silvia...next time, take your cell phone and take a picture of them saying you are going to call police and show them who was harrassing you. Then tell them that God/Allah is always watching what you do...that will usually make them leave.

If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you; that is the main difference between a dog and man.

guys, you may think that silvia is overreacting but believe me, if you will be put in situation like that for the first time, you would really be in shock. the first time someone had stalked me in a mall (following me from the grocery to second floor up to the third floor), i was trembling with fear. im not a softy and never an emotional person, but that time, i wanted to cry right then and there..

the girl is somewhat in shock with what happened to her.. take it easy on her.

and Silvia Abdullah take all the advise in mind and just ignore all the unnecessary inputs.

i agree that some men just dont know how to behave in front of a woman.

peace. =)

"OMG someone looked at me" call police!!!

....It makes me laugh, pay close attention to all the looks, the talk and make it into a HUGE DEAL!

....."Pay no attention", (head up) go about your business don't be looking around to see who is looking at you ..... and you will find, "it will no longer be an ordeal"

Some people just need attention, and those are the ones that have scary experience usually in malls. Get a Life!

PS. Find any good sales?

i just want to share with you my experience, one arab said in front of my face "i want to f_ck you and my d!ck is like these (signal up to elbow) and i retort back and said "no you're d!ck is like these (signal my pinkie)

mind you, there was no provocation i was just browsing at the magazine section and i am just alone, he just walked away (maybe feeling insulted) but i was beyond shock.

but then, i also met a holy arab (really they exist) after closing a deal,i extend my hand for a handshake and he declined and told me that he is a holy muslim.

The only reason this stands out is:

1 - Population + M/F ratio

Back home, this goes for every one, the chance is just as big to have an encounter with an idiot that does not know how to behave.

What does he look like when he starts mumbling? since u don't understand arabic, have you like somehow think that maybe he's just trying to ask for your help?

You said you're in the mall, there are securities all over, and i think there's always someone there to help you or give assistance...

well it's just that my "WHAT IF" habit strikes me again... :) peace! :-)

its just so strange to me, normally the guy will attempt such act if the gurl give them the signal. but i duno him or not even see him, i just met him on my way out. wht a stupid a****

..to suggest you to follow him as in trail him. I meant only if possible.

The best way is to confront. Most of these guys who do such silly stuff are from good local families and get a kick out of acting like thugs and bullies.I guess thats the way to prove their friends that they are 'cool'.If you confront ; they get scared.

Believe me there is nothing to be scared of these guys. They are funny pricks.

if i follow the guy , it will send the wrong signal to them.

normally if the guy follow me, i just simply ignored them as they not even exist, but this one stopping my way out. i didnt even give them face, y the hell he should bother to stand in my way.

wearing abaya ........i dont get used to it cos thts not my "formal dress".

its not the drama. i was stuck in the place where i cant move ad his friends was next to him blocking the way...and i have to lower my eye gaze so he will think i hv no interest where actually to hide scary feeling

...to bear with these guys. Or you can complain if you can dare to. These guys know that expats from some countries are too timid to react hence they do such things. Best way to tackle this would be try and follow these guys and see their car number sna d report. I doubt this would lead to any serious action against them as you will have nothing to prove but it would certainly act as a deterent of sorts.
