Saturday nights in Doha? Qube nightclub?

Qatar clubs: shitty music & crowd and LOTS of queers.. population mostly phillindians. 95 % men starring at the 5 % zombie looking fart smelling chix.

Best thing about that place is the cars, food and hot weather.

Thanks for that info Alumnar. I'm wondering why there is this additional requirement for nightclubs. At the end of the day, if you're resident expat here or expat on a business visa, everyone's working here.

They did ask me whether I was staying at the Ramada, so it seemed that they make exceptions for guests of the hotel.

... and you can enter the pubs with passport or ID.

As for entering nightclubs (such as the Qube in the Ramada) you need to have residence permit (local ID card) or you will not be allowed inside.

at Orions and Bubbles bar at Ramada... I do stand open to correction though.

I've only been in Doha for a week, and desperately needed a drink last night. So I went over to the Ramada (yes with my passport), where I had stayed earlier in the week. I was surprised to find I couldn't get into Qube nightclub, as I wasn't a member, and wasn't with a member. Apparently, if I was staying at the hotel (as I had been 4 nights earlier), I could have gone in as a guest.

But I can't apply for a membership, as I'm here on a business Visa and don't have (and won't be applying for) residency.

I was wondering if I would have this trouble at all nightclubs in Doha? From what I've read, it seems that I will.

So... who's stapling who's foot to what? And where? In Qube or on Cloud 9?

Come to the Qube this weekend for HED KANDI.

An awesome mixed event. Recommended by ILQ 100% the last one was fantastic.

The Qube is usually not really that excited, but when Hed Kandi come, they revamp the whole place.

There are loads of parties, you just need to go to them and make your own entertainment.

Clubbing here is not very good but if your looking for R&B & HipHop nights then i would suggest Admirals on Thursday night and Cloud9 on Friday night... The Pearl also has a good DJ but its more House there... The Cube is RUBBISHHHHHH!! i hate that place, it reminds me of a high school prom hall...Nasty place... :)

Cube is a good club, I think its the best club by the appearance in Qatar. The thing is, alot of Asians go there, but I dont see how that could be a problem and why would people discriminate...

It's always funny to see the variety of responses.

It might just be me but when I read those responses my face goes o_O

Here's the God's honest truth.

There are plenty of clubs, people DO go out on Saturdays (anyone who says otherwise is one of those people who DOESNT :P)

The clubs in Qatar are great because they don't follow the traditional Western style (i.e. it's not just one dance floor with a bar), it follows the Far East style of having a dance floor, a bar, and then various tables where you can chill, chat, and play some drinking games!

I myself DJed in London, Cali and Shanghai.

My goal is to one day open a variety of businesses in Qatar and one of them being a great club.

I just arrived in Doha 2 weeks ago. Last Friday, I was able to see this band called Big Night Out at Qube.

Apparently they just arrived over the weekend. These guys are awesome!

Is it true? The Ramada administration is not renewing the contract for the live bands of the cube? For, What I understand their contract expires soon. Is this a coincidence that suddenly we get all this DJ's performing so much. in my opinion, I rather listen to my I-pod in that case.

Clubs (I mean night clubs) here in Qatar are no comparison to what you'd find in a non-muslim country. They both serve alcohol, have music (live/djs) but that's where the comparison ends.

Take a plane and go somewhere else. :-) I'd suggest Heat or Mercury Lounge in Melbourne for RnB/Hip Hop. ;-) (Bit of promotion from an ex-employee)

If you still wanna come to the Middle East for clubbing, go to Beirut or Istanbul. Maybe even Cairo for that matter.

Or go to Goa, India if you wanna spend Xmas at trance parties on the beaches. Or go pub hopping in Bangalore.

I agree with Tyler and bbksiu. Although the best way to enjoy your weekend in Doha is by get together with friends in one of our house, have dinner (bbq) and drinks (alcohol) you can buy alcohol if you have the license, play some games (e.g. Risk and Card) watch the latest dvd, you can put music on and DANCE (Becareful your neighbor!!!!) and if you too drunk to go home, your friend can get you a lift, or there always a taxi. So you not worry to get cought on drunk and driving.

Not good idea to come to have a party in Qatar. Qatar is a "Muslim" country, Muslims are not allowed to drink alcohol & be in unnecessary co-ed places.

Coming to Qatar to have party is strange. Maybe you could save money for other purposes other than parties.

Is pretty good on a Thursday night. Nice crowd of people and a good British band. Not clubbing though. For clubbing there is only the Pearl (with the awful DJ JoJO) and Cloud Nyn where the crowd is very very young. I guess if you want clubbing you really do have to go to Beirut.

If you enjoy filipino cover bands and lots of asian variety in the crowd then the Qube is GREAT, however if you enjoy more of the western flair you are down to Garvey's, Rugby Club, and Rydges. Of these your best bet for Fri and Sat night (my OPINION, so no flames from anyone) is going to be Rydges. The bar is under new Aussie management with the goal of MUCH better music and faster service. This past weekend was quite busy and the music was good enough to dance to. So there you hav it, one recommendation
