Salary limit to increase to get family visa

SDJC
By SDJC

Qatar is considering raising the salary limit for expats wanting to sponsor their families, it was reported on Tuesday.

The Labour Ministry has hinted the salary limit for expats wanting their families to be included on their visas could be revised soon as part of a set of new regulations being put in place to regulate the recruitment of foreign workers.

The paper said officials justified the proposed raise of the salary cap from QR4,500 to QR7,000 saying the move was inevitable as property rents had soared.

The recruitment committee at the ministry was currently putting in place a new set of recruitment rules, according to comments by the Minister of Labour, Dr Sultan bin Hasan Al Dhabit Al Dosari, in an interview with Arabic daily Al Sharq.

I know guys who make QAR 5000... but if they bring their wives over, the wife could earn QAR 3000 easily... with that they can live a comfortable life in Qatar... The law should account for double income families... especially since working wives have now to be registered with the Ministry of Labor...

Worse still, I know people who's salaries are just below the minimum requirement for a family visa. But if they get their wives over, they get additional benefits from the employer on account of their new family status... but their family visa requests get rejected?!

I thought that was already implemented since last year,

and as far as i know, QR7000 should be the minimum salary, excluding transportation, accomodation, living allowance, etc.

Iamnatroll...

who will pay the utilities?

500 for two kids? I wonder which school?

By anonymous• 3 Nov 2009 13:51

A small family can live in a portion of villa (2 bedroom) which cost QR.3500/- + 1200 (for groceries)+ 1,100 for a vehicle loan+ 500 QR.(School fees for 2 children- Indian school cost only that much i guess) Qr.700 is still balance..

I said this because, i personally know people who are living comfortable life with the same range of salaries..

And i second Qatarisun.. Its since long time this law has been implemented. Wonder why people dig it again?

Sagg ..so do you really think a small family can survive on QR.7000? I think its impossible....

If you compromise on quality maybe you can get... but same quality cost 10 times more now...

what year this news are?

it has been implemented for at least 1 year by now..

pajju...well,maybe

jackmohan2007...maybe by the time the Games came around,we were on safe shores.

FS...those days, the cost of living and salary went hand in hand.it was proportionate to what it is now.agreed that the rents were not so high back then.but we had to rely to a huge extent on imported goods from the UK,US and japan, quite unlike the increased options available now.so things haven't really 'changed' much,IMHO.

svelte_saggi ....thats impossible....for income under 10K.

Thus

Working Pa+ Working Ma+ working 15yr girl = Total income more than 10K...Yes or No?

boss,i'm part of an upper middle-class NRI family myself!so i too know how my folks are managing us....a family of four(pa,ma,me and a sis in university here),living a decent new 3 bedroom villa, with three cars and six cats :-P pa,ma and me are working....but i know that we get to do all those things u said....we have a proper home,me and my sis went to one of the best schools in the country,i remember i got my dresses from BHS back then and my sis from Sana and Baby Shop and now from Splash,we send money home for the future and we recently jazzed up our home in india.

see....if there's a will,there's a way.

svelte_saggi ...15yr girl tell that to me when you get there...lol

See it like this:

If I am alone....I can survive with QR 1,000 and maybe even send Qr 100 home!!!

But with a family I would need at least QR 10,000 to give them proper home, school, food, clothes, etc send money home for future, invest in a house(back home), etc.

Of course there are people who are living below that income with kids....but then its like living in a one room flat...old bad unmaintained car....perpetually under debt....etc condition.

depends on ur lifestyle to a big extent,i say.if splurging is your way of life, then even 10,000 as basic pay wouldn't really be enough.

In my opinion it should be Qr10,000

At least people comming here will start realizing how expensive this place really is for a family with kids....unless ofcourse the Qatar Govt is footing the bill.

Cost of Rent + Cost of 2 Cars + Kids Education Expense (which is negligible in comparision with the first two)+Grocery expense + Investment back home+Cost of Medical Expense +etc

svelte_saggi, this is for new visas only.

a lot of people bring their familiys with 3,000 QR salary long time ago , when it was increased they were not asked for any salary cirtificate.
