The State of Qatar’s sole public hospital Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) system has been receiving flak from the public – both expatriates and citizens – amidst mounting incidents of critical medical errors (equivalent to ‘medical malpractice in Western countries) at its various hospitals, reported The Peninsula in Doha.

In recent days, disgruntled people have been expressing their sentiments over the air which have prompted several leading Qatari writers and columnists to call for more transparency and immediate action from HMC officials.

Please find out how many doctors actually have accommodation? And where do they accommodate single lady doctors? After how long do doctors manage to get accommodation & who all they have to bribe for getting an accommodation which is supposed to be 'free'? It will be an eye opener for you. I have suffered their housing department & everyone from top to bottom is protecting the scoundrels.

diagnosed with eczema around here, and put on long term medication, regardless of the different symptoms!

Oh and no one below 28 years old can get breast cancer as one doctor in HMC brightly informed me!

Seriously it's good the issue is finally being highlighted and discussed openly. Just hope the authorities take now the steps required to remedy the very grave and deadly situation.

Yes, you need to employ qualified staff, but there also needs to be a mechanism in place to sue the hospital / staff for negligence..

Wow...it is not so easy to employ proper staff in HMC. First, you have to have a big 'wasta' or pay a big bribe to get into HMC. Then once you enter the place, they will not give you housing. Can you imagine a doctor who has to work 24 hours of work at a stretch, does not have a proper place to sleep? What performance will that doctor have? Lastly, doctor's visa is cancelled all of a sudden because he/she comes from a certain nationality. What rubbish? These are essential services. If doctor has been performing well, why shouldn't government help them to continue services. The reason being who cares. Let a few hundred die in that rotten HMC, it's not their loss. They are concentrating all their effort & finances on getting recognition of American medical schools...Do they really think Americans are so stupid to recognize these kind of butcher houses as hospitals? There is no work culture in that hospital. Most of the Arab doctors don't know how to read or write English properly. I wonder how they have managed to get their medical schooling done in English.............jokers.

bosedi, I have to disagree

How could this even relate to customer service!

"A woman caller named Ms. Umm Ali alleged that her 38-year-old son died to HMC’s reputed medical errors. "Many people are losing their lives and many are getting disabled due to wrong diagnosis" she remarked."
