UAE says rights of migrant workers 'not negotiable'
PROTECTION PLEDGE: The UAE said on Wednesday that the rights of migrant workers in the country were not up for negotiation.
The UAE is fully committed to protecting migrant workers, saying their rights was something that were "not negotiable", a senior government minister said on Wednesday.
The country's Labour Minister Saqr Gobash said the UAE was "very conscious of the contribution contractual workers make to its economy" and wanted to help to "empower them to fully benefit from their residency in the country".
...."It goes without saying that, in the course of doing so, the fundamental human rights of all people are not to be considered negotiable."

Unless you are there to live for a very long time than its a problem. If you are there to work, earn and save enough so that one day you can leave for good. Now who needs the ultimate rights
c'mon guys....we don't live in a democracy
The UAE is one of the worst offenders in this regard. Behind the guilded facade is a bleak world of the labourers who built the city.
This was brought to the fore when the bubble burst. They are now on a PR exercise to change their image..
what he meant was,"migrant workers have no rights period & that is non-negotiable."
