Resignation rules

Simple question...

If you resign, is it possible for an employer to "refuse" your resignation?

Surely if you resign...you resign...right?

in middle east ..labour rules really doesnt help you much with this sponsorship issues. it all depends on how good your relationship with your company. if your relationship is bad ..then you have to think smart and make a move. if you are resigning to join another company..agree with other company whats your plan is ..or take an emergency leave..then enter the counrtry with the new employer

"Make a difference or make way"

They cannot hold you back if you resigned under their terms of notice. Usually 30 days. They can hold u back if you have taken any money or caused any serious financial issues. U will need to settle that. Besides that you cannot be held back. Make sure you give your resignation and take acknowledgement of receipt (date stamping and person who received it) if not fax it so that you have proof. Had a bit of trouble myself.....

It is not possible for an employer to reject your resignation provided you had comply with what is stated in your employment contract. eg. period of notice.

Make sure your notice is given to the right person (i.e. your boss) and cc to the HR so that the company will not claim that they never receive your notice of resignation.

The company cannot hold you for an indefinite period once you resigned from the company.  May be they can ask you to wait for the other person to come in for handing over your dutieis.

it is subject for case to case basis...are you in their sponsorship? |They hired you locally or from your country? Did you sign contract or agreement? What are your reasons (Did the company given you what they promised? Is it in black and white?)......

by answering those, you can have the answer yourself. goodluck
