Rent Ranges

Can we have a discussion about rents? My landlord is trying to negotiate my rent for the next 12 months. I currently pay QR9,000 per month for a 2 bed 2 bath flat in Al Muntazah. The flat is large and there is covered parking but there are no other amenities.

My landlord is a local landowner who prefers to deal with individuals rather than companies because he like to know who is in his flats. He is a nice guy but a canny businessman. He claims that rent won't rise after the Games and that he could easily get QR10,000 for my flat. He is offering me QR500 per month discount for signing a two year lease.

I think it would be useful if we compared notes so that we could determine whether we are paying a fair rent. Any thoughts?

Well to share with you all about accomodation - rent

as of now the present situation, Rent is very very high

All we know.

Then everybody says that after asian games, we will get lots of house as well as rent will come down

I came here on sep 2006 from that i watched from newspaper news based on that my suggestion is...

Never will come down the House Rent for another 1 year atleast

this follow reasons are .....

1. Nowadays the cement and other cost will be high due to non-avaiability

2. Government has decided to build all new houses like apartments or New villa

These above 2 points are mandatory..

Well, I remember one thing when i read it once

that

wherever have been coming new things, those who are being on that time, they have to suffer for a while

as such as Now Doha is coming up,

Hope it will be ok for another 1 year or 2 years

afterwards, we may get it our house rent will come down

until - it won't reduce the rent

we have to share our accomodation with our needs...

else

Let government has to look and do something for all expats...

God wishes always with us..

Cheers

Selvan

I don't think the rent decrease will be as dramatic as half. But, the prices will definately fall...or at least we all hope.

Very cheap. But I live in a box in the almuntazah area (looks like we are neighbours Richard!).

I believe people in my building are paying as much as 6000 for the same 1 bedroom flat.

Looking to move next year with a budget of 7,ooo or so, to a two bedroom flat. I'm also contemplating to share a big villa with all the facilities.

Would anyone want to share with a Spaniard, a French and a hyperactive toddler?

The rent seems a little high. I would look around and if you don't find something else more reasonable then I guess you would have to settle.

The first thing that comes to mind is that these landlords are wanting a guarenteed rental now as they might feel that the rental market's bubble might burst to a certain extent once the Games are over. In view of this I would also want to sign up my tenents with a 2 year contract as soon as possible JUST IN CASE.

I am going to be watching and following all discussions on rental prices as I will be due to sign a new lease in March 2007. I am just hoping that things have stabilised by then and that there will be a bit of a choice as well. Fortunately I am not bound by any particular area to stay in.

I hope that this thread will develop with some good debate around the subject - once again! :)

Discussions about local rents are strictly forbidden on this web site and may prompt a visit from the local landlord police force.

Move along now people..........Nothing to see here.

At this particular moment no value is fair, IMHO. But, just to add my 0.02 copecks to your survey.

My previous employer was renting for me a furnished 2 bedroom apartment in Al Mansoora (nice well kept building, but ..."If I use bad words again I'll be banned from this site"...ty area). On a one year rent basis the price was 6K per month. From October, the rent of this same apartment on the same conditions is 8K. I rented now starting from November a completely unfurnished 2 bedroom 1 1/2 bathroom apartment in Bin Mahmood for 7,5K (or I could have rented for 9K furnished).

My neighbours who just signed up the lease paid 11K for a furnished one (same apartment as mine). This is in a 5-6 years old building.

I however want to see what will happen in 1 year, and if I would have been you, I would have signed a 1 year extention.
