yes exception to the norm that is an accurate statement:-)..in the OP's range and requirements, yes most of the japanese stuff is dull:-)..and yeah, i've seen exactly ONE nsx here lol so you're right there as well haha..anyways..was good talking..time to sleep now..goodnight and have a great day tomorrow:-)
I agree - I loved the drive of the Mazda 6. Drove both the 2 and 2.3. They are exceptions to the norm. As for your other recommendations how many mx5, nsx, rx7 do you see in Qatar? Even the Z are automatic - sad.
In the price range of the duster, i wouldn't recommend most Japanese cars. Let's keep the OP happy and have our debate.
agree for the most part with what you say about driving fun..and i also realize you are only talking about normal family cars..however, japanese cars too can be awesome fun..sure, in the segment the OP is shopping, the fun drives are less numerous but they are there all the same.
the old generation mazda6 and to some extent the new ones too are great handling family cars..sure, they are not a bmw 3 series but they hide their front wheel sedan platform very well..the older honda accords and civics were refreshingly fun to drive..the mazda mx-5, honda nsx, honda s2000, nissan 370z, nissan skyline, mazda rx7/rx8, toyota gt86/ae86, toyota mr2, old gen celicas..these are some of the cars that are a hoot to drive..i won't even mention the four wheel drive cars like the evos and subarus and gtrs because that is a different scene altogether..anyways..i'm not arguing buddy..i just love cars and like to discuss with like minded people that's all..let's not divert the topic anymore and hijack the thread lol:-)
Based on the Nissan Tiida platform but you won't get an SUV at this price. - for that itself, it should sell well. Service att the same Nissan dealer so I guess it should be good and cheap.
Btw if you like driving then you won't pick up a Japanese car - most of them are extemely boring to drive and less safer.
Well, I have already answered the question above by NO.
Nevertheless, I wish to work in any of those companies, as a result I could get a good bargain on any of these cars. :D LOL
Finally, I'm using a korean car now , as it has been with me since 2001, so how I can be an Ambassador for any Japanese cars?!, LOL. But I have driven many types of cars, and I was satisfied more with the Japanese, as it did not cost me in spare parts or maintinance as much as the other cars. @@
Redan, I was not questioning about the invasion of Japanes cars in Qatar and I do use one but I was just wondering on your post like an Ambassador of Japanese cars (no offense).
No I'm not working for any cars companies, not just Japanese ones.
However, If you are now in Qatar, then I want you to step out in anywhere on the street side, then take a look around you and check the cars passing by infront of you, then tell me isn't it correct that Japanese cars has already made an invasion in here!. ^_^
haha i like how you write..and hey yes i agree with you..i too feel you should buy cars with your heart and not your head..but i think the OP has economy/costs in mind, which is why i just pointed him/her to the best options there..i was impressed too by what i saw/heard about the duster..anyways..now the question for the OP is: 'head or heart'? haha
The first time I saw the duster was in a newspaper ad. The design caught my eye, but the price QR. 52000/- send waves through my body.
I wondered JUST 50K for a Quality SUV. This is "Tata Nano" kind of stuff, But no, This is far more than NANO, I went deeper and deeper, I read stuff like, its based on the Tiida Chase, Isn't that an amazing fact, nothing handles as smart as the Tiida 2012, the way they have increased the weight ratio, and the Duster is 2.0L on top of a Tiida Chassis, now that's like having Ladoo with Baskin Robbins on top of it.
To all comments about Japanese Cars, and etc etc etc above. Y Buy a Teto Carolla at 72000, when you can buy a Duster at 52K. and spares, resale value, maintenance...... I know its sad, But, Qatar will have excellent facilities in the near future.
My Advice, GO GO GO BUY THE DUSTER, and I AM STARTING A DUSTER OWNERS CLUB, ALL INTERESTED DUSTER OWNERS CONTACT ME ASAP.
First of all, when you live in any Arabian Gulf countries, and thinking to buy a car, then it is better to buy a Japanese car as first choice.
However, if you are still new in here and just started working and wants to invest your money in a car, then buy a small Japanese Sedan/Saloon car, as it could save you a lot of money more than any other european cars, specailly here in the Arabian Gulf, as there is not much of experienced good workshops to make maintinane and fix your european car in the future. SO either you go to Mitsubishi cars or Toyota, but Nissan is the last choice as I heared that their workshop is very busy and costing more money, so do Renault which could cost you much more than Nissan.
Nevertheless, no one is going to push you away from the car that you would love to buy, but as an advice from a person who has been living in Qatar for 35 years and had and experince with many types of cars, then it is better for you to think more before you buy any european car in here, and no matter what kind of european car you are going to buy, keep in your mind that workshops and spare parts for that kind of cars is going to keep sucking the money from your pockets, and what ever you do for such a car, it can't survive without alot of maintinance, and this could take alot of your money, precious time, and a contious headache till it makes you hate the car, then when it is time to sell the car, for sure the price may go down so fast, Also not much of people could be intersted in.
Although, it is not just about the car spare parts or maintinance. Also there is another problem which is about the unbelieveable raised prices for all types of tyres for all kinds of vehicles here in Qatar ?!, So you have to think about this too.
Finally, you were right to ask about the car maintinace and spare parts, as this is a very good point for any person who would think to buy a car. As a matter in fact it is the first thing we have to ask about before buying any car, no matter what offers the car's dealers are attracting customers with, but the most important what is going to happen to the car after it runs on the road and experince the real heat in the traffic, .....etc.
By the way, thanks for this topic as it is an important subject to discuss.
well i don't have any idea about renault costs, but what i can tell you with full belief and accuracy is that NOTHING comes close to the reliability and low maintenance costs of japanese cars, especially toyota. they just keep going on and on and on. and if you stick to the basic recommended maintenance schedule, toyotas could run forever haha..i saw a toyota camry few days back which had been driven 798000 kms..that is absolutely and unbelievably high mileage..and the car was ten years old..i could not believe how smooth and quiet it was..all the owner did was take good care of the engine and change oil regularly because he drove a lot..if maintenance and cost and reliability is a concern for you, then japanese cars are the way to go. best of luck:-)
i saw a full review of it (its also called a dacia duster in europe) on a popular motoring program and they were very impressed with its robustness and reliability..it has serious off road capability and is practical around town too. The car itself is good but I'm not sure if it would have good resale value here. But if resale isn't an issue, and you like the car, then go for it by all means. you can search for 'dacia duster fifth gear' on youtube if you'd like to see the review yourself. best of luck:-)

I own this car and is very good drive and stable in terms of handling. Go for it if you look for a change from sedan to Compact SUV and class

It's a cheap car built for the emerging markets. Not too advanced technologicaly and not too advanced ride wise.

I dont know much about Renault Duster here but I heard it is well accepted in India. It is supposed to be the cheapest SUV.
Redan, Are you working for any Japanes Car Companies here?
Thank you so much mohdata
