I heard that there are small organisations who does recycle stuff in qatar..
If any one is aware please advice .. day to day we all dispose a lot of glass bottles , drink cans and paper.. and half of this stuff can be re cycled and we can help the nature in a small way..
"....An official at the Al Suweidi Paper Factory, the only facility in Qatar that recycles paper, said their daily capacity was 42-43 tonnes.
“We have 35 trucks that are working round-the-clock and around 70 personnel involved in collection,” the official said.
According to him, recycling of newspaper and other printed material requires additional chemicals.
The only plastic recyclers in the country, Doha Plastic, could not be reached. Not much could be found on aluminium recycling – the most lucrative in the international market – except that it’s shipped to Dubai...."
For me it was a shock when I first came here and saw that there's no recycling system in place. Especially in Europe you are so much used to recycle everything and to having a different bin for everything...it's still causing pain when I have to throw glass, cans, paper, "natural" waste like banana skins, apple cores etc in the same bin...
Unfortunately there are non recycling programs in qatar. some charity organisations accept used clothes, kitchen utensils, furniture and the like. but 'kachara',nobody is doing it, to the best of my knowledge.
I think the problem is that there is no market available in qatar for recyled products. we are good in importing everything from china and korea, even the cleaning rags.
