Rants on Doha Bank
So, anyway let me start of with Dohabank. I just opened an account with them over a month ago since it is just beside our office and of course, I thought it was going to be more convenient for me. Unfortunately, I was DEAD WRONG!!
Last week I applied for a Click card, it's one of those re loadable internet cards when you want to shop online. It's a whole lot better than giving your credit card details because it's prepaid! Pretty neat hey! So, after 3 days I received mine and the people at the bank says I should put some money in it so that it will be activated. I did this over the teller because their online facility that deals with Click card isn't on their website yet! I put some money in it and I got the deposit receipt.. it was Thursday and I was thinking probably the money will be in on Saturday.. but to my surprise, it's already been 2 days and I don't have a clue where that money is. It's not reflecting on my internet bank account and I have been calling the bank and they cannot give me any definite response on what's going on!! So, I have been harassing them because they have no right to do this to people. They keep on asking for my contact number and other information and up until today I have no feedback!!
They offer services which they think they can actually pull off but they just can't. Still, that issue is pending..
And here is another issue, last Thursday (after having deposited to my Click card that went well-NOT) I purchased something at this retail store and the cashier asked me for another card (after swiping it 3x) because unfortunately my ATM card isn't working. I was totally clueless when she said that. Hello, I just withdrew money 5 minutes ago and now you're telling me there's something wrong with my card??! Just to clear it off, I paid in cash.. but to my surprise I received 3 sms from Dohabank!!!
1) Your account has been debited..
2) Your account has been credited..
3) Your account has been debited..
All that same amount.. to think the transaction didn't go through!! Now I have to deal with this issue. I get the necessary receipts/papers from the store and I sent it to Doha bank and geez they told me it will take 2-3 weeks to claim my money. Wow!! Because of their inaccuracy I have to go through this hassle of just reimbursing money which was due to their fault?! As I have mentioned earlier, I tried Doha bank because I thought it was going to be convenient but never have I experienced so much hassle with a bank!! They are actually stealing money from people when they're doing this. You don't know where your money is and they just tell you to wait 2-3 weeks?? What the hell is that?
Their service is just POOR!! POOR POOR!!!!!!!!!!!! ABSOLUTELY DEPLORABLE!!
yes, I understand that to retrieve my money it will take 2-3 weeks.. what I don't get is their poor customer service as well as their inaccuracy with their products.
Why can't they just give me a contact person to deal with this matter instead of having to call them and explain my issue over and over again.. I'm tired of sounding like a broken record!
Also, with this Click card.. if none of their employees don't have an idea how it works, why issue it this early?? They have to know each and everything that goes on in their bank with regards to their services.
I will have to go on a mission tomorrow to Doha Bank. Oh boy, will they hear a lot from me.. this is just not acceptable. I was with QNB before (w/ my former company) and the service is alright.
what a shame, they don;t know what they are selling?

The bank debiting MY BANK account for my friends credit card. And when i brought it to their notice they mentioned "Ask your friend to write a letter saying Please stop debiting rlasrado's bank account for my credit card". I was so happy that my friend was willing to write that letter. I woudn't. :-)
Enquired about Travel Insurance available on the credit cards. The marketing guys were not even aware of it and stated we don't have it.I had to point it out on their marketing brochure which was in front of them. They looked at it and said we were not aware.

Don't change your bank.All are the same.One has to be lucky to not have bad expeirences with any of them.

Some time ago Doha Bank had started a similar Internet Card which was Worse I lost more than QR 200 in it.
First the password did not come from the bank for 15 days
- Dont ask me Why ???
Then after a delay the password given did not work.
Returning back to the bank
"Maybe you entered the wrong password"
after a lot of hasselling the new password was issued which i checked inthe bank itself but when prompted to change it
AGAIN IT GOT LOCKED.....
Finally i thought its better to forget it

I lost my atm a couple of weeks back. and obviously, i need a new one. So i go through the lame process til im finally informed with a date to go and pick it up.
I was kinda busy that day, but desperate for the card, so after making sure it was actually there ready for pick up, i decided to squeeze it in.
and to make things better, i said ill walk in to the managers office with my fingers crossed, hoping somehow he could make things easier.
I walk in, to a fellow sitting back giggling on his telephone. He was rather hospital though.. AFTER he finished his SERIOUS buisness call..
anyways, i explained, and he told me who to look for.
So outside, i couldnt find any que numbers other than those for the tellers. so my alternative was to stand by that guys desk. and i stood.. and stood.. till the two chicks that were sitting there finished whatever it was they were doing.
He fetched up my card, then i was so relieved and ready to spring out of there to catch up with the rest of my schedule.
but then i realized, i dont have my password..
So i walked back and asked him, then he pointed towards the customers service desk.. I turn around to see a desk with about 8-10 people surrounding it..
I was like, oh boy..
TILL the young lady sitting at the desk was apparently getting annoyed from the people around her.. so she gave us the dirtiest look, but with a kind voice, asked us to be seated..
Seated i thought? how the hell are we gonna know whos 1st?! so i was like, and how will you keep track of the order? she was like, there IS a system.
(if i forgot to mention it, the que box had tape on the button opposite to the customers service tag)
I looked at my watch, and realized i was already late enough.. Having the will of a hungry dinasour to explode in her face about their nonsence, i thought id better catch up with my stuff..
So right in the middle of that pointless convo, i just stormed out.
went back the next day though. she was really happy to see me. and was GLAD to tell me, passwords for atms should be collected on the same day collecting the atm itself. Anything other than that, voids the card, and you have to apply for a new one.
I didnt give her the satisfaction she was looking for though (i had cash on me at the time), and as any new applicant would, filled out the applications with a smile on my face.
The thing is, it shoulduv been finished in 10 days. now its been about 20, and every time i call, they dont have a clue. ooh, and i bet my numbers written write next to yours on their; "oops we did it again" list.
ill have to pay them a visit soon..

Hi, I used to be a Banker back home and even in my country, it will also take 2-3 weeks before thay give back the money to the client. The purpose of this is because there is a procedure/process to follow. But of course there is always a better way of doing something.
And the bank will always find in their reports the discrepancy in their daily transactions.
I also have the same question: How do they screen potential employees? Banking should be a business based on trust, and there should be very slim provision for mistakes.

i agree with you, i dont know how they scrutinize their bank personnel. once or twice is tolerable for errors in posting a deposit but if everytime you deposit you receive messages like what you have mentioned is pretty alarming. I dont know how Doha Bank scrutinize their bank personnel. There is this lady teller in Al Nasr Branch who receives check doesnt know what her work is... I had this experience, we received a check from our client as payment of their account (Doha Bank check) I deposited 4 doha bank checks also to Doha Bank. Guess what, only 2 checks were cleared. The two checks were pending... three days had passed still the two checks were not yet reflected in our bank account so I decided to visit al nasr branch... I spoke to the manager and advised me to the teller who received the check.
To make the long story short, we had an argument, the lady teller kept on insisting that she already corrected the error and when I checked it, she made the same error instead of make additions to our account it became deductions. I spoke to her supervisor, I explained and showed him what entry should be made to arrive at the right amount where he agreed that I am correct... The lady teller is about to freak out because of that and I never entertained her explanation but instead I let her supervisor talked to her id**tness.
The nerve to tell me I'm wrong! It's our company's money!

Haha! It's crazy! Will wait for this issue to clear (hopefully **keeping my fingers crossed).. I'm giving them a month. Then I am switching straight away.

Hi, You are still better off !. It had taken me six visits and 45 days to get an ATM card, and for credit card I applied in December 2007 and still waiting !
