What the F***

Is it not racism or what ?

We cry that no one let us go to Malls and public Places because we belong to other part of the world and bla bla S*** but now what is this happening.

Qatari National preferred is understandable coz there are Nationals

Bilingual required is also acceptable coz it can be anyone who Knows both languages

but What the F*** is this Filipino Preferred, Are we doing justice to other nationals. Tell me one thing in general which is not in other nationals compare to Filipino

Totally ridiculous and SHAME

p.s. I am not against to Filipinos but i really did not like how things are working here.

1. Yes, in other countries this ad would have not been allowed. In some countries you must also be gender sensitive.

2. Preference is a term used so as not to offend anybody.

3. HR dont want to screen a million CVs. They have to be specific according to their needs.

The fact is that we are here in Qatar and some restrictions are imposed including the availability of visas.

Discrimination would have been a better title rather than racism on the original post.

Nobody will admit that his own nationality is inferior to anyone and so this kind of thread is definitely stirring up the flame inside each and everyone of us....

Right seriously....The OP is actually promoting filipinas and they are the ones who are getting annoyed. (except now the married couple of course)

Racism is when a child in your class has been brought up in such a way that he says that he doesn't want to watch a movie because it has Indian people in it.

We discuss so many issues which are in contrast to how things work here. So what is the issue in discussing the OP. BTW it was going easy until some of them without grasping the essence and in trying to prove (which they keep doing endlessly otherwise) how good they are turned the entire debate into something else. I am however, waiting for one last addition from one poster to complete this discussion from its side...:)

I know in Qatar there are expats that afraid to touch blacks so are you going to blog how racist they are? lets face it racism exists and i am afraid it will never go away, they abolished slavery but they can never abolish racism.

By boy-next-door• 29 Apr 2012 23:53

JA Girl Yes I do know what racism is. Let me share the definition to you:

Racism:

- The belief that some races are inherently superior (physically, intellectually, or culturally) to others and therefore have a right to dominate them.

- abusive or aggressive behaviour towards members of another race on the basis of such a belief.

Race:

- any people united by common history, language, cultural traits, etc.

- an arbitrary classification of modern humans, sometimes, especially formerly, based on any or a combination of various physical characteristics, as skin color, facial form, or eye shape.

Taking the above into consideration, Filipino is a race.

I'm a Filipina, and I got a job because of what I know and I didn't get my job because someone of the same nationality happens to work in that same company.

I can brand people RACIST (of their own race) when they say "I am British" or I'm American" (bcoz they have a US or British passport) when everyone can see the one saying that looks very much of a different nationality.

If I needed an office assistant here, I would go for a Philippina, if I needed a sales manager, I would prefer a Brit. For an engineer, I would hire an Indian...and so on.

Now, for the management it makes sense to hire someone that gives them a higher chance of getting maximum work or benifit out of the employee spending the minimum possible on him/her.

I feel this is not racism...they prefer nationalities for some obvious reasons.

I dont say that all Filipinos speak fluent English, some of them not but they could communicate well.

and I advertised the vacancy here on QL Classifieds.

But I stated that:

1. We don't have Indian visa allowance,

2. if they're applying for a position other than what we are looking for, no need to send as its a waste of time for me and to them...

Guess what, I still receive CV's other than what we're looking for.

Maybe people should start TELLING THE TRUTH in their resumes coz most of what I encounter as of late, are either half-truths or lies. Quite exasperating, actually.

Regarding your questions about why the hiring company prefers Filipinas, think about it:

We work our time and even more...WE GET PAID LOWER...and because we need a job/visa, we grab the job HOPING we'll get a raise along the way.

I dont say that all Filipinos speak fluent English, some of them not but they could communicate well.

Hygiene...no offense meant to anyone, but Filipinos have better hygiene practices.

AND the ads said 'with basic accounting skills"...geez..the company isn't looking for a "secretary", they're looking for an OFFICE ASSISTANT who could do 'secretarial, clerical, basic accounting, front desk, etc".

By the way, it is stated in the Ql guidelines: Think before you post... Obviously, you're not thinking.

if they put your nationality as the preferred candidate, would you be reacting the same?

HR departments run their ads based on the level of their needs. There are many factors considered and does not in any way mean to inflict harm to anybody.

You began your post with a curse, this is ONE THING that is truly not Filipino and that is the reason maybe for the preference.

they might have a reason (or several) to prefer a nationality above others. But in the end the ad does not says something like "restricted to filipino applicants only"

Why not send them an email and ask WHY only preference given to Filipino.

Regards!!
