A R Rahman strikes Grammys gold

LOS ANGELES: Indian composer A R Rahman scored a double triumph at the Grammy Awards here, scooping two early honours for his music from Tia Carrere presents the Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media award to A R Rahman for Slumdog Millionaire during the Pre-Telecast award presentations at the 52nd Grammy Awards in Los Angeles

Rahman won the first Grammy of the pre-show at the Staples Center in the best compilation soundtrack for a motion picture category before his "Jai Ho" won in the best motion picture song category moments later.

"This is insane, god is great again," Rahman said as he accepted his second award before a VIP audience.

Rahman's rivals in the soundtrack category included Steve Jordan for "Cadillac Records," Quentin Tarantino for "Inglourious Basterds", and the producers of "Twilight" and "True Blood."

In the best song category Rahman's beaten rivals included Bruce Springsteen for his song "The Wrestler", from the Oscar-nominated movie of the same name.

The Grammy success comes after Rahman earned two Oscars for his music in "Slumdog Millionaire" at last year's Academy Awards.

The talented music maestro picked up the best original score statuette before scooping the best song Oscar.

with a little help from Wikitravel, here's the location of Liril Point in Lonavala...

Liril Point. Take a rickshaw from Lonavala station. All the rickshaw-wallas know Liril Point. They will drop you to the top of the mountain where the stream begins and from there you have to trek down to Liril Point which is where there are several beautiful waterfalls. Apparantly, the old Liril ads were shot here. You can either take the trek route following the stream (the more beautiful route), or the path on the hill (the safer option).

Thats great....he was always considered gifted....

But personally I feel that was one of his minor works....below are some of his better tracks....in no particular order....

Konjam Nilavu - from the movie Thiruda Thiruda:

Oorvasi Oorvasi – from the movie Kadhalan:

Kannum Kannum - from the movie Thiruda Thiruda:

&feature=related

tanha tanha – from the movie Rangeela:

&feature=related

Chaiyya Chayyia - from the movie - Dil Se

DIL SE RE - from the movie - Dil Se

Vande Mataram - Maa Tujhe Salaam (A.R.Rahman) He redid the National Song and now nobody remembers the original version.....…almost!!!

Jana Gana Mana – The National Anthem … no magic this time but still worth a hear:

&feature=related

Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera – from the movie “Swades”

Probably the greatest song by A. R. Rahman. This song, literally, brings me to tears every time i hear it...sums up all the feelings i experience when missing India. I hear my country calling me like a mother calling her beloved son.

&feature=related

Yuhi chala chal rahi – again from the movie “Swades”

&feature=related

Khwaja mere khwaja – from the movie “Jodha Akbar”

Sufi Music/song

Tu hi Re – from the movie “Bombay”

Dil hai Chota sa; Choti Si Asha – From the movie”Roja”
