Qtel's Mobile Broadband Rape
QTEL: We rip you off, you know it, but you'll like it!
As the only wireless broadband internet service provider in all qatar, i had learned to live with and cope with the fact that qtel will not only give you hell with its crappy dead-slow connection, but will make you pay enormous amounts for it...
I have had lately subscribed to the "unlimited" package for 400QR/month. As it turns out though.. Qtel defines Unlimited by Limited for 15 GB... hmm.. As for the download speeds.. well it varies from "frequent cut-offs=0kBps" to 4 kB/s.
And last but not least, customer service... Last time i called 111 for internet customer service, i was put on Hold on the line for "TWENTY FOUR MINUTES" = 24 minutes!!
This comes out from a pissed off customer, if you're thinking about getting it, then don't.. I'm canceling mine anyway..

i'm also shocked with my 1st bill.. i have a 200 per month plan and in the first month when i checked my bill, i got QR 849 wtf!..
call 111 they would explain the breakdown of fees in your bill..
these are mine for the 1st month:
100 =1 time connection fee
200 =for 1 month
200 =for 1 month advance
143 =for the excess of my 3gb limit per month
and lastly
206 = ?????? (i dunno about this, they just told me this for the first month)
Wow. Equating poor quality product and poor customer service with rape. That's classy.
The service is called the IBM system! Good willing, Tommorow, Foget about it! And do keep your bills because they can not go back and find them on their system.
Could they revert the bill? I mean, just to correct it? And explain it. I am still waiting for the reply in my email about the breakdown of the bill. But no answer yet. I have been calling 111, still no answer :(
Unfortunately i already got that 875 QR slap on the face! But tell me something.. is it going to be always this slow??
Well.. unfortunately i definitely AM in this "Coverage" area... hmm.. i think i'm now ready to give customer service a second 25 minute call...
will be about 700 QR depending on when you opened your account. You will be paying for the remainder of the present billing period, 100 QR for a one time set up fee and 400 QR for the next month.

good thing for you, you don't have to be cut-off for five days during your second week of using it. Not only that, you will have sore ears for dialing 111 and nobody answers.
By the way, have you seen your bill for the first month already? Wait till you see it. I got shocked myself, expecting that it would just be 400QR for the first month.
you won't exceed the 15 gig limit in at that speed.

BTW, mine is about 425 down and 38 up and that is 40km out of Doha. Are you in the coverage area? Did you look at the propagation map?
