Qtel Stupidity

Good morning QLers. Wish it were for me :(
Last night, I woke up horrified receiving messages thru my mobile phone. Thought there is a catastrophe somewhere. Well the time was 2:05 after midnight.
Hardly able to open my eyes discovered that the messages (total 4) were from Qtel informing me that the Bills are now issued.
I such case, wish I were living in the States and I don't have to worry about my retirement coz I will become a millionaire due to such incident.

I wish it would be Financial Harassement.. at least I could benefit from one.. it is a "mobile-ringing-in-the-midnight-and-driving-me-crazy" harassment...lol...

.. in the middle of the night from DOHA BANK once in a while... Even though i called them few times and asked to stop this harassment.. and even though i closed my bank account with this bank about few months ago.. they still keep sending me their offers or other info at 2-3 a.m... how about it??? lol...
I wouldn't mind the car cleaning form, as my car is at present so dirty that I am even ashamed to sit in it myself at present.
Bureaucracy is asked for here I think!!!
More free Q-Tel services...they are going to inform you when
1. Your bill has been issued.
2. your garbage has been taken out.
3. your car has been cleaned.
so on..
For the above...you have to sign up and for each service you have to fill a different form ....and dont forget to attach a copy of your ID.
And they have the latest one where you have the option to sign-up to get a message in case you missed a message eg: "You just recieved a message from 999999 at 00:00 time"
The last one would need your Sponsor's signature also.

Monopolies never care about customer service, because dissatisfied customers have nowhere else to go. Like you said what's their incentive to improve? If they were not a monopoly, then bad service would cost them as customers switched, but this cannot happen here, so there is no incentive.

Actually the problem is double
Monopoly on one side and no consumer rights on the other side. So their motto should be "To Hell With Customers" which is undeclared
They are smart enough to spend millions of dollars to change their logo and launch marketing campaigns (as if there is competition) with taking care about improving the service.
It is like that old man who dyes his grey hair to black, thinking by doing so, he would have better hard on :)))))))))))
oh yeah ifhamr, see, there's always a "catch" with those promos...don't believe them myself..and whenever, i would read such promos i always ask "what's the catch?"..ended up ignoring them..

You guys must be aware there was a promotion few months back where Hala - Post paid transfer was done Free of charge and we pay the monthly rental for a year thats Qrs. 300.00?
Well I really wanted to do this, when i visited Qtel they told me that I will not be charged a rental for any services and I only have to pay for my call charged only. This I agree...
now I see that I have been charged for CLI Qrs.15.00 Every month whereas with Hala it was FOC.
What do u guys have to say about this? Isn't Qtel cheating on us?

They have their reasons to do that and their level of thinking is beyond our capabilities we the "idiot" customers to comprehend.
Am sure if everyone checks his bill in details will find something funny and weird.
They are smart in cheating and fooling customers:
once I was surprised that my international call rates applied during Eid holiday (the first day even) were charged at the Peak rate. Although it should be an OFF Peak rate.
Tried to act like a good customer, called them and the guy there told me "Ah Did you notice what did they do?" as if he is working in another company and not Qtel.
Another HUGE CHEATING happened when they announced the reduction of GSM local rates for both pre and post paid cards. BUT they did not mention that the unit basis will be on per minute and not per 10 seconds.
When I raised the issue with many friends who used hala cards, they were wondering how their credit is consumed that quick although the rates are reduced.
Unfortunately, Consumer Rights department is sleeping
Im using a post paid connection. I have been charged for taking calls to my own number that is 512345 to 512345 & I have been charged for this too. how on earth is this possible?
Please advice, is this common within u guys too..??

Thought the message was from girlfriend telling me the place is clear and safe and the door will be kept ajar and I would sneak in peacefully:D
or from the other one telling that I can go up using the fire escape ladder and enter through the kitchen :D

Qtel..Qtel..Qtel.. everyday, i got to encounter this company...in the office, house, from friends, colleagues...sometimes, i feel like throwing up (sorry...) hearing this Q***..

I know exactly what you mean Kellysheroes...I have ranted and raved about Qtel on 3 other threads already lol....from texting at midnight... to cutting off service with no warnings (they claim bills issued and we never got them)...regardless we paid the next day and it still took 3 weeks to restore service...and the list goes on and on.
I just have 2 things to say:
1) THIS is why monopolies are ILLEGAL in the civilized world!
2) It blows my mind how much Qtel boasts about being profitable....honestly, when was the last time you heard of a monopoly that WASN'T profitable???
If the legislation is not introduced to ban monopolies, then all we can do is complain and suffer their crappy service.

I was very glad also.
Think your idea is good. We can have our own communication, using pigeons for that purpose. At least we will not cheated by them like Qtel keeps doing to its customers
Do you have business with Qtel and you do not want to anger them and loose the deal?
Do not count much on that.
Am afraid the new provider would be MTC and as you would know, QTel is a major shareholder in that company
maybe we should put up our own telecommunications..
problem is Qtel doesn't see any competition...but then again, do they have to need a competition for them to "diligently" improve their services? sigh...

can you not request them to refrain sending those unwanted messages?...coz, i think we have done those in our company..but i guess it doesn't apply to individual account..wishful thinking though..:P

Same here Kelly's .... I keep getting these msgs n the best part is its not even for my number its for some other customers.... The service sometimes is just so lame ....
