qtel password phishing scam
I've received an e-mail claiming to be from q-tel that says:
"Dear Qatar Broadband User,
We have finish our monthly system upgrade, You have to update your Webmail and verify your identity, please follow this link and sign in
//wm.qatar.net.qa/...update/login
Regards,
Qatar Broadband Service
Copyright © 2012 Qatar Broadband Service"
If I mouse-over the http link in that, it tells me that it direcets not to "wm.qatar.net.qa" but to "http...rujewz.hyphyhost.net/qataronlinejamenow/qataronlinejamenow/qatarlogin.html"
The idea that Qtel is using a hidden website address called "are you jews" to ask people to provide email passwords seems so improbable (even for here) that I have no intention of touching this mail.
Even more improbable is the idea that qtel has a "monthly system upgrade"!!!
I don't intend to bother even though I do want to continue to get my internet service (the wording hints that I must supply my details for that).
I started this topic simply to warn others who might get it that there appears to be something phishy about this message even though at first sight the link appears to be to Qtel webmail, in fact it goes somewhere else.
Pau, even if it were from Q-Tel, why should you bother? Do you need anything from them? Or is it them who want to sell something to you?
I don't think it is from Qtel. I used to get a lot similar spams.
Pirate, that makes as much sense as saying that if you don't want anything from a library then don't go to a strip joint.
A real qtel address... fine, but do you really want to go to "rujewz.net" to contact qtel? (It might be "Russian Jewz, rather than "Are You Jewz" of course).
It's up to you to react. If you are curious, do it. If you are confident that you don't need anything from Q-Tel, don't react. If they want something from you, let them come to your house.
