Qatar is my home
By Straight Arrow •
What do you think of Qatar?
he said Qatar is my home and he was smiling.
I was happy to hear that and see his honest smile, how many of us as Qatari and non Qatari thinks that Qatar is our home?
saying yes with out showing the signs means nothing, as they say love with out evidences is not considered love at all and it can be called anything else.
What made me write this is the act of a man in his car in Mc Donalds drive through where his wife opened the door and through a paper cup of tea on the side, is this attitude acceptable?
My friend think of Qatar as your home.
Home is all about perspective.
I always say Qatar is not my home even now during my third year living here but I'm always reminded that I spend most of my months here and by default it makes it my home.
Good thought QR..:)are you Nouf by any chance?
Qatar is my home,I am a Qatari, who wasn't born in Qatar, and lived some years of my life outside Qatar, however; that home needs serious makeover and decoration :)
Habibi wake up and smell the coffee! In this country you will always the foreigner to this place.
You lots can’t even leave this place without a legal permit from your sponsoring companies.
And if you still think Qatar is your home, well check the new appointment machines they are installing at HH
(If you are Qatar click here)
(For non-Qataris click here)
so much for home!
Frenchies: I'm starting to think you are smoking some serious shate that’s making u imagine crazy things and speak all kinda BS
no freedom in Qatar,
Qatar is and will be our home. We enjoy living here for the reasons that many people mentioned. Take the good of every place you go, and live will be great. It is your decision, not the place or the circumstances. It is not what happens to you, it is what you do with what happens to you. Happiness is a decision.
Have a great weekend.
Yeah fast development.....but safely developed.....hummmmmm
I 'm really impress with Qatar fast development & they are trying to make the city nice etc. Even though my country is lack behind in terms of development- I do still love my country- I miss my friends, food, cars.
Love the work, people, and place but its just another stop over, nothing compared to what i call "HOME"
Notwithstanding the above, i respect the local traditions and keep the place clean.
It's no ones home unless one is Qatari......Expats are only welcome to do a job and then leave...We are not encouraged to be at home quite clearly..::However, the weather is nice.....
To Qatar and I hope the message is clear.
This is ridiculous. Qatar is not my home; it's where I live at the moment. It can't be anyone's home if they cannot be citizens--tossed out on someone else's whim, no right to vote or hold office, etc. This is someone else's home, which is fine, because I happen to like visiting living here.
Well Qatar is where we are living and working right Now, I have full respect for the country and the Qatary people but my home country is where i can be settled, buy a house, educate my children but first the gov should provide enough schools and also where i can run a business by my own........ because of these, Qatar cannot be my home country.
I feel more at home here than I have ever felt anywhere else, and if not Makkah or Madinah, I'd be happy to have my qabar at Abu Hamour. That said I have the notion that where ever we are, be it home or away, we still must do our part in keeping our surroundings clean. It's incumbent upon on us!
Isn't there a diff between:
"X (country) is my home"
&
"I returned home in X (country)"
tahsinmim,my house is my home in a country that is not my home.
Even when I am on vacation in a country for a few days, sometimes I say let's go home, even if it means to go to the hotel room.
So, "home" and "home" can have different meanings, it depends on the context.
But, as a country, Qatar is not my home.
My home will always be the country in which I was born and brought up. At least that is the case for me.
thanks
But I want some one to answer this question:
if you are staying in Qatar and your Italian (example) friend as well and he was having some work which made stay more time at work here in Qatar, will we say:
a) he returned home late
or
b) he reutrned Italy
(Please note he will not travel and he will stay here)
Considering I am not comfortable being a Muslim female in this so-called Muslim country, Qatar is definitely not my home. Muslim females here face pretty much the same type of discrimination found in the west be it to a lesser degree (workplace discrimination...).
Maybe, I would think differently of countries such as Malaysia or Indonesia which would probably feel a lot more homely.
qatar aint my home yo. but i consider ya'll my hommies. u feel me bruthas and shistahs? lol
good friends, friendly nods and smiles from flatmates, fellow tenants people on d street, good food, not so great drinks (but is available), effin traffic.
it all make me feel at home ^_^
Qatar is not my home. It is where I temporarily live.
Never the less, home or not, that does in no way change my behaviour towards it.
I don't litter or disrespect, no matter where I am.
As you like. No need to reopen the debate.
Muslim women will judge...
Not just my experience. Many have come forward with similar stories unfortunately.
And Tasin, you are no Muslim woman walking around with a veil on your head to be able to judge.
But no need to reopen the debate, I am just giving you my point of view.
and he/she is living in Qatar and went with a friend to the cenima in city center her and their friend here call them, which is most reasonable and logical question:
What time did you come home?
or
What time did you come UK or USA or India or Philippine?
Assume they are all in Qatar
hai tahsimin,,you are absolutely right (when i die others attend my janasa)
Born and raised here, don't know any other place outside of Qatar.
This is my home, but it don't feel like home til my wife is back, then its a real home.....happy home.
Keep it clean, pack it in, then pack it out especially at the beaches. I hate seeing liter everywhere!!!!
,... boundries ,.... stop limiting your home surroundings by geographical boundires, ... home is where the heart is ,.. home is where you love and are loved. .... ITS WEEKEND ,... LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED
MM... it is kinda Indian thing I guess in me… even if hubby, wife and kids are together, the extended family such as father, mother, sis, bro, and all those other relatives are also taken into account and not just the two plus in the current location. Also I can anytime go back to India and no one can ask me to leave unlike anywhere outside where at this moment I am there and next I am not there.
Moreover, future planning (say post retirement), my personal finances etc are all shaped in India (mostly) not for any other reason just that I understand it better as I grew up with it. I too love the challenge of living overseas may be for similar reasons you have but then thats it. However, that doesnt mean I do not care for the country I am in and would always do what is best in the interests of the country on personal level or professional level till I am there. But HOME, that is in India.
please you with happy healthy life and long live, but if I do not come please excuse me as I can not my friend.
Not at all acceptable, they should be penalized.Every one is responsible to keep the environment clean and tidy.
However Qatar is not ma home, its where I work and earn. I dream of the day I can go back to ma home, sweet home. :)
Nationality and home are not to be taken in the same light here. While nationalities seldom change, home can change based on where you work, live and raise a family. Considering this reasoning, Qatar is our home for the last few years and 'inshallah' would be for a few years more.
I see some of the readers are getting confused ...reason being "straight arrow" subject was clear but he made one spelling mistake which is confusing others ......he has used the word "through" instead of "threw" to better understand the subject ....Cheers
Qatar is a nice place but if you are not Qatari it can never be your home. (Unless they give you citizenship).
You can be expelled at any time and without reason.
HGL, I love Canada for many reasons, but I love the challenge of living overseas. And the fact that my entire family is in Qatar means that that's where my heart is.
Did I say anything diff than TB...:)
I said thanks guys
Selective, eh!!!
specially Thelonius and tinkerbell10 and Miss Mimi
Looks like inspite of all perceived disadvantages Indians can only consider India as their home in contrast to people from other country(ies) which are perceived to be far better than India...:)
Hope I am not missing something here!
as UKQ said, Qatar can never be my home.. but that doesnt mean i should make it dirty,, if someone is dirty he can make anywhere dirty wherever he goes.
I consider Qatar my home. I have no real intentions to go back to Canada. My family all live in Qatar. So it's home.
Planet Earth is my home!
Wherever you are ,you supposed to pay back your mother earth with good deeds.
Then, everywhere I go, its my home. I try to keep it clean .... But my wife disagree ;)
i have respect for this country..Qatar is good for savings and mostly i like the culture. Most of the Qataris gives respects to you..but sorry cant stay here for long..East or west India is best..
Agree with TB and hence the OP as far as keeping the surroundings clean and taking care of other things while we are here.
Qatar can never be my home! even though I have been here for 7 years!
