Qatar Airways budget airline contingency plan
Speaking at a travel conference in Dubai on Tuesday airline CEO Akbar Al Baker said the carrier felt no threat from low-cost airlines at present.
The future of the industry lay in business and premium economy class, and the airline was carrying on with its expansion plans within this market, he said
However, Al Baker added that if Qatar Airways started to feel a threat from budget airlines it had plans in place that meant it could launch a rival within 90 days.

Is this the reason why he orderd 24 A320 narrow body aircrafts with only 12 club class seats ?? LOL .. joker he is
Majority of of their segements are with A320s, which is an inferior product in terms of premium classa dn even economy comforts, where as for a cheaper fare you can fly other airlines on wide bodies jets like 777s and 330s.

Not a well thought speaking to the press. Why does QR or Abu Baker should use "competition"or afraid if QR business will severely get affected by the move done by Emirates. This showing QR presence in the middle east and the world is being shadowed by Emirates very much! Afterall, Emirates is just a 4-Star rating airlines not a 5-Star like QR!
is a very cheap airline which has very cheap management and employees who will sell thier own family members for their jobs cheap people!!!!!.reall disgusting
The lowest level fares of QR and other direct flights out of Doha are in par with the Low cost carrier fares. QR plays all games along with the Civil aviation in restricting the lowering of fares by lowcost ones.
