Qatar 2022: 'Forced labour' at World Cup stadium

By Wild Turkey

Rights group Amnesty International has accused Qatar of using forced labour at a flagship World Cup 2022 stadium.

Amnesty says workers at Khalifa International Stadium are forced to live in squalid accommodation, pay huge recruitment fees and have had wages withheld and passports confiscated.

It also accuses Fifa of "failing almost completely" to stop the tournament being "built on human rights abuses".

Qatar said it was "concerned" by the allegations and would investigate.

The government said the welfare of migrant workers was a "top priority" and insisted it was committed to systematic reform of Qatar's labour laws.

No body would ever welcome unwanted interference in one home ................ ......... Yes, We would like there contribution if any in the form of taking well experienced plumbers / masons / carpenters / painters to their home countries to get the similar facilities to be made for our { hosts } visit which may follow when they would invite us { in case they remember to invite us } before enjoying their stay here ..........

Zack, Keep it simple, What would you say if you get a group of guests at midnight & you offer them your bed & you lie down on the floor mat for 4 - 5 hrs once in a life time ........ ? ...... Your neighbours won't go to UN and complaint against your guests .......... We need to work hard for our guests ........ to make their stay comfortable ..............

What's funny is that Amnesty accuses FIFA and not Qatar!

Nothing can stop the World Cup from going ahead. However it would be beneficial if the authorities made an example of at least one of the culprits abusing the workers
