The Purpose of Nationality ?

thexonic
By thexonic

What is the purpose of Nationality?, is it just a label to identify a person? or is it a weapon to discriminate and give double standards?

Just another topic to debate on.

In my opinion nationalities are just labels that differentiate one human from another, when God has made everyone equal. I dont believe in nationalities, Adam didnt have one right?, he was born free and so are we. In my opinion, I choose to be who I am and I represent myself, not some book that i use for traveling.

Sir Paul

If I had to defend the British Isle, I might as well call the 7 dwarfs of snow white to give us infantry support, the reindeers of Santa to provide us Air coverage and the three kings of christmas to give us logistic support.

Why a Georgia kid like my self, would like to be British, instead of an English gent like your self?

I like ducks' explaination...I, too am very grateful and thankful, to be an American. I love my country, warts and all.

Problem with no nationalities is that then we'd all be generic..same, same, as they say here.  Its HUMANS that make nationalities something to be discriminated against, not the nationalities themselves. And...that is such a shame...

It depends on your own viewpoint. Some people use nationality just as a means to a better life. Some use it to give back to the nation that provides them with education, living etc. I know many people who emigrated to Canada, got the passport and straight away left for positions in the Middle East. They have no real alegiance to the country which gives them a nationality.

ha, Mr. Paul...as you can see, I've been trained with the Swiss thinking for 28 years now :) I mean, of course I root for our national team, or like it if something from Switzerland is praised everywhere.

There is no PURPOSE. It is an IDENTIFICATION.

It just identifies which country you are from. In this case you can ask: what the purpose of the Country? There is no purpose, that’s how it happened historically…

Thexonic, If you take Europe as an example, nearly every Nation got it's unique language and it's own history, which also makes the Countries governable .  To me Nationalism

is a good thing, Rascism does not have

anything to do with Nationality - History would show that.

I think you are just confused, or you have problems explaining

what you really mean.
