From a layman's point of view (me that is) I think buying a commercial property would be a better pay off in the long run in comparison to a residential one.

I mean it seems good : you pay 100.000 rial then you pay no more than your rent . for this you get residence visa - no more trouble with sponsors -you live in a wonderful area .
BUT it is only for 99 years -so I can be homeless around age 120 ?
And the tension with Iran is also discouraging .
And in the emirates one can get the same for half price .
And I do not know how expensive i t is to live in such flats .Who pays for example for the maintenance of the swimming pool and so on?
