Processed Food!
Hi everyone,
I have been living here for some years now with my family and am extremely concerned about the health of my family and everyone living here too. An article in the Gulf Times about cancer causing elements in the processed foods forced me to come and write on Qatar living. At least someone’s conscious finally awakened!
I chose to come on this site because I know many people read it and if someone is in such position or close to someone who is in such position and has live conscious, to deliver this message to the concerned influential personals that can do something about all this!
The thing is, its not just about processed foods, these toxics are found in the toothpastes, the filling in our mouths, the fruits and vegetables( in form of chemical fertilizers), pasteurized milk and milk products and hell even in water (in form of fluoride and chloride... which is already BANNED all over in Europe!!!)
The sad part is even people who know this, cannot find anything pure here. Few grocery stores that do contain so called organic perishable food are way out of reach of a common man. Also when I tried to look for non-pasteurized fresh milk, I couldn’t and was told that only farm of some Arab natives have it??
It’s a pity because Qatar is supposed to be one of the richest countries but the authorities especially health authorities are playing mere puppets in the hands of big Pharmaceuticals and western food and drug authorities destroying the health of even their OWN people!! Or just because they have Absolutely NO knowledge of their own about the reality of the poison they are feeding people. Please watch this video and share.

I request everyone who reads this message to spread this message and do some part as its about time someone does something about it regardless of gender, age, color, race or religion and the least we can do is raise a concern.
Regards to all
A concerned Human being

Masafi water does not add flouride to it's bottles...
Uranus, another problem here is storage. You pay top Riyal for products you assume may be healthier than others. BUT...they are old, have been stored wrong etc. So, most of the benefit has literally evaporated.
It is really very difficult to eat healthy here.
And don't even get me started on the meat....:(
I agree with what Frenchieman and nomerci have said. There are real problems but limited solutions. You can only do your best and be mindful of the avoidable dangers. Organic produce is hard to find, but knowing the basic rules and regulation of production in the countries of origin helps. For example, French apples won't have as many pesticides as American ones, and given the current state of affairs in Yemen, I am guessing the government is not really regulating its apple production at all, so who know what you'll get.
We bake our own bread in a bread machine, using flour from a trusted source, which helps us avoid giving our kids the cheap Chinese grain and various processing agents used in a lot of the store bread here.
Milk is the hardest think to get around.
Here you have very little chance of eating really healthy food...that's all there is to it.
At home one can go to farmer's markets etc. to buy good , healthy food.....but for the time being we simply must deal with what's available .
Knowing the problem is half the solution. Closing our eyes will not shut off the dangers we are already in.
This is the first step dear for me too. I dont know any other way but o reach out to as many people I can. If you have found the way please share..

Qatar food safety is appalling given the overall wealth of the country. Residents are rarely informed of food poisoning outbreaks or inspection reports of places where food is sold or served. All public information elsewhere. There is also an awful lot of products that come from China (sometimes via UEA processors) that are otherwise banned in Western countries (grain in particular).
To be fair, however, the government has made significant strides in last year, but it has a long way to go.
The lesson is only buy brands you trust from countries of origin you trust when at all possible. Sometimes it is more expensive, but it's worth it. And make it yourself with reliable ingredients rather than buying processed.
Don't scare us please.
