Praise for Qatar

Qatar is not the perfect country (which is?)  but in the field of higher education they are to be praised.

The Emir His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani presided over the first joint graduation ceremony of the Education City Students in Doha on Tuesday.

Here are some wonderful excerpts from his speech:

"We have started to reap the yield of an ambitious national project.   A project intended to plant the seeds of knowledge and enhance the strategic role of science in building both the country and its citizens.

We are fully convinced that a quality education is the foundation stone for achieving the aims and objectives of our national developmental plan.

Moreover, establishing qualified human resources in all sectors is a top priority and a strategic choice for both now and the future.

It is for this reason that we have given to education the due care and attention it rightly deserves.  We believe that investment in education and scientific research, no matter how great in cost, will yield a great and more valuable return in terms of human capacity building and development."

Praises to the Emir, the government, and the people of Qatar for investing so heavily in their people and education.     It truly is the cornerstone of a great nation and they are to be commended for recognizing that and working toward achieving the goal of an educated society.   All other development comes afterwards.

Let's praise Qatar after all of the above has progressed, praise goes to the few who have already invested and pleged their lives to improving Qatar and are doing their level best to give something back to their country especially the women without whose potential Qatar would not be where it is now.
