Pets Market
A couple of weeks ago I opened a thread asking for help to get a dog for my family; the last Friday one of my friends gave us a mix breed puppy as a gift - She was about 2 months. After a couple of days we realized that the puppy was bought in the Souq Waqif; but we didn’t know until the puppy began to vomiting and have a strong diarrhea – After visiting the Vet 3 times and run a lot of test; the diagnostic has shown that the puppy had parvovirus, coranovirus and distemper. She past away yesterday; the joy we got last Friday just turned on a sadness and frustration because despite of we tried a lot of thing – She just died.. But my reflection is beyond this.. When my friend gave us the puppy He also gave us a vaccination certificate where at least 2 vaccines were certificated – the MLV antidistemper and LCAN-LGRIP-LCIT antibacterial – that he received when He bought the puppy to one of the sellers in the Souq and that certificate was sign-off by a “Vet”?? and has a “Clinic” stamp on it. Now, how can you explain that the puppy got those kinds of illnesses if she got the vaccines??? Additionally, She suffered of parasites and warms.. In her third and last visit to the Vet (by the way I visited 2 different clinic because the first one was a nightmare and She got worst). He has explained us that Dogs in the Souq have the worst conditions for leaving; there are no sanitary control at all; the majority of the dogs are sick due to they have been took out of their mothers too soon without chance of feeding properly with “mom’s milk” – this should be usually after 8 to 10 weeks but they used to do it after 3 weeks; also, the sellers don’t care about puppies health they just want to make money from people how loves dogs.. Then, my question is no one controls this??? How many people have been swindle for those death merchants??
People, please don’t buy dogs in the Souq – Don’t give your money to these heartless sellers; please go to the shelters and adopt a pet.. We sadly learnt our lesson…
adopt a dog instead of buying especially @ souq waqif.. they are cute but most of them are infected with parvo.. poor puppies..
That's right Oryx... if you want a dog in Qatar there are loads of wonderful animals looking for a home. 2nd chance is great, and it gives me a lot of hope that it's run by a Qatari.
Just make sure whatever pet you get you get them spade or neutered: even if you never intend to breed them, it's a good precaution.

2nd Chance Rescue, Dogs in Doha and QAWS all have lovely healthy dogs looking for a forever home.
the best way to 'control' the situation is to Adopt and not Shop...then they would all go out of business :)
they sell because people buy
